Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has criticized the government following the fatal shooting of a woman by an ICE agent on January 7.
The shooting occurred when an ICE agent fired at Renee Good during raids in her neighborhood. Video footage initially showed an agent trying to open Good’s car door before she attempted to drive away at the age of 37.
As another agent stood close to the vehicle, he opened fire on Good, resulting in her death.
This event has ignited a nationwide debate concerning the handling of such situations by law enforcement and the use of force considered unnecessary.
Many argue that the shooting of Good was unwarranted, while the Department of Homeland Security maintains that the officer’s actions were justified.
Jacob Frey, the 48th mayor of Minnesota’s largest city since 2018, has been vocal in defending Good.

Kristi Noem has labeled Good as a ‘domestic terrorist’ for allegedly ‘weaponizing’ her vehicle, to which Frey responded, calling this narrative ‘bullsh*t’.
Newly surfaced footage of the incident has been released by Alpha News. This video, reportedly taken by an ICE officer on the scene, captures a conversation between the officer and Good.
In the video, Good says to the officer: “That’s fine, dude. I’m not mad at you.”
Another officer is heard commanding Good to ‘get out of the f**king car,’ prompting her to accelerate away.
Gunshots are audible, followed by someone exclaiming ‘f***ing b*tch’.
Mayor Frey is believed to have reviewed this specific footage and was asked if it altered his stance on the situation.

In an interview with an ABC News reporter, Frey stated that an ‘investigation could change or affirm my perspective,’ though not necessarily the video.
“We’ve [all got] two eyes, and I can see a person that is trying to leave,” he continued. “I can see an ICE agent that was not run over by a car. That didn’t happen.”
Referring to the footage already in public view, Frey remarked: “[The ICE officer] walked away with a hop in his step from the incident.”
He further commented: “There’s another person that’s dead. He held on his cell phone. I think that speaks for itself.”
