The remains of a young mother from Georgia were uncovered following a puzzling text sent from her phone to her fiancé.
Minelys ‘Mimi’ Zoe Rodriguez-Ramirez, a resident of Cornelia, had been in communication with her fiancé, Julio Tovor, while she was at a Walmart around 9:30pm on October 22.
Tovor retired for the night before Mimi returned home. However, upon waking the next day, his concern grew when he realized she was not back.
Unable to reach her, Tovor reached out to Mimi’s mother, Carmen Ramirez, only to find she was also unaware of Mimi’s whereabouts.
In an interview with Now Habersham, Ramirez shared: “Everybody calls her Mimi. My daughter moved here six years ago when Mt. Vernon Mills offered her a job while she was living in Puerto Rico.”
On October 23, the family officially reported Mimi missing, as confirmed by the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.
Reflecting on Mimi’s disappearance, Tovor recalled the last message he received from her, which coincided with the time she was last at Walmart.
The message, which puzzled him, read: “I am waiting for the brother to pick him up.”
“It didn’t make sense,” Tovor explained to Now Habersham. “She doesn’t talk like that.”
The family was left seeking answers, until Monday (October 28) when the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) provided a significant update. They arrested Angel DeJesus Rivera-Sanches, 24, on a charge of kidnapping tied to Mimi’s vanishing.
The next day, authorities disclosed that remains believed to belong to Mimi were located.
Rivera-Sanches has since been additionally charged with murder following the discovery.
As of now, the GBI has not disclosed a motive behind the alleged murder.
Before her untimely death, Mimi had amassed over 22,000 followers on TikTok, sharing workout videos and personal stories.
As a teenager, Mimi gave birth to a daughter, who currently resides with her father in Puerto Rico.
Tovor expressed to Now Habersham that the mother cherished her daughter deeply.
The GBI is currently waiting for the results from Mimi’s autopsy to provide more details about her death.
