Missing US woman discovered alive thousands of miles away, accuses family of ‘toxic’ behavior

A woman from the United States, previously reported as missing, has been discovered living with a group in Scotland and has made a surprising accusation against her family.

Kaura Taylor vanished three months ago and was located in what is claimed to be a ‘lost African tribe’ within a Scottish forest, far from her home in Texas, spanning a distance of approximately 3,000 miles.

The 21-year-old was found in the company of a self-described ‘King and Queen’ in the ‘Kingdom of Kubala,’ a secluded area near Jedburgh, about 40 miles south of Edinburgh. This group claims to be a lost tribe seeking to reclaim ancestral lands believed to have been theirs 400 years ago.

Taylor, who now refers to herself as ‘Asnat of Atehene,’ has addressed concerns from her family by urging authorities to respect her wishes as an adult, stating she left due to familial issues.

In a Facebook post, she refutes the notion that she was missing, declaring: “I’m very happy with my King and Queen, I was never missing, I fled a very abusive, toxic family.”

Her family disputes these accusations, asserting that her upbringing was “very sheltered and protected.” Taylor’s aunt, Teri Allen, expressed to The Independent that Taylor was raised in a religious setting, but not aligned with the beliefs of her current group.

Allen remarked: “Not this thing that they got going. It’s a bunch of hogwash.”

She added, “It is very stressful, and difficult. It breaks our heart. We’re overly concerned about Kaura, but she doesn’t think anyone is concerned about her.”

Her aunt further stated that communication between Taylor and the group’s leaders, King Atehene and Queen Nandi, was kept secret from the family.

The family suspects that Taylor learned about the group online through a connection with a high school acquaintance, leading to her eventual estrangement from family and friends.

The situation came to light when Taylor informed her aunt, Vandora Skinner, with whom she had been residing, of her plans to leave with her daughter after ending a relationship. Skinner later discovered Taylor’s involvement with the group on social media.

Taylor reportedly traveled to the UK on May 25 with a six-month tourist visa set to expire in November, which her family hopes will prompt her return.

King Atehene, known as Kofi Offeh, and Queen Nandi, whose real name is Jean Gasho, describe their lifestyle as simple and connected to nature. They emphasize daily reliance on the creator for essential needs and living without fear due to divine protection.
