Mom defends spending nearly $40k a year on luxury vacations for her one-year-old

An influencer and mother has asserted that her one-year-old son isn’t getting spoiled despite her shelling out nearly $40,000 annually on posh getaways. Exotic destinations like St. Lucia, Budapest, and Paris are already checked off the young Koa’s travel list. Jodie Weston, a 30-year-old influencer and DJ, who has graced British reality TV shows “Rich Holiday Poor Holiday” and “Rich Kids Go Skint,” claims these experiences, though lavish, have taught her to appreciate simpler joys. Yet, she continues to indulge her son with trips around the globe.

This year, their travels include visits to St. Lucia, Budapest, and a UK staycation in Windsor where they explored theme parks such as Legoland and Chessington World of Adventures. Jodie has spent £30,000 ($38,500) on their travels so far, with more planned adventures, including a luxurious stay in the Cotswolds and a lavish retreat to an Italian mansion costing £10,000 ($12,830).

“He’s too young to know what being spoilt is, we are just enjoying the high life,” Jodie shared with What’s The Jam. “He’s just living a life of luxury and there’s nothing wrong with that. In a few months, he’ll be starting nursery and so I want to spend as much time with him as possible before that.”

Jodie is unapologetic about her spending habits, particularly when it comes to Koa’s wardrobe, which she refreshes with each new trip, costing her an additional £2,000 this year. “I’m a sole parent, so I obviously overcompensate. But if you’ve got it, then flaunt it,” she said.

Contrary to traditional expectations of motherhood that suggest women should stay home, Jodie believes her travels and time for herself have made her a better parent. “I even get to squeeze in a pedicure or massage to make the most of my alone time,” she added.

While Koa has accompanied her on most trips, Jodie plans a solo birthday trip to Las Vegas later this year, but promises a family trip to Disney World in Florida for Koa’s next birthday. She also hopes to show him more of the UK as he grows older to help him “appreciate everything he’s got and is able to do.”

Addressing critics of her lifestyle, Jodie stated, “The people who judge me aren’t usually parents themselves yet, so they can’t really have an opinion. More often than not, they’re just jealous of me and my ability to not conform – but that’s their problem, not mine.”
