More than 80% of restaurants featured on Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares have shut down

More than 80 percent of the restaurants featured on Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares have reportedly shut down permanently.

The renowned show showcased Gordon Ramsay, 57, storming into various eateries across the UK, US, France, and Spain, providing intense feedback (sometimes through yelling) to help improve the restaurants’ conditions.

The show has maintained a loyal fan base, with viewers enjoying watching Ramsay transform struggling establishments into successful and profitable ventures.

However, it appears that a significant number of restaurants that appeared on the show are no longer in operation.

According to LADbible, 80 percent of the restaurants featured on the show have closed their doors.

Of the 105 restaurants that Ramsay visited across the UK, US, France, and Spain, only about 19 remain operational.

It’s important to note that the premise of the show revolves around restaurants that are already facing challenges.

Additionally, much of the filming took place years ago, well before the COVID-19 pandemic, which severely impacted the restaurant industry.

Earlier this year, we reported on a lawsuit from a New Orleans restaurant against Ramsay after a video of him vomiting in their establishment resurfaced on Facebook.

The restaurant was displeased when a video reappeared on Facebook in 2018, showing Ramsay vomiting after smelling a container filled with shrimp.

Oceana Grill claimed the clip was exaggerated for the show and did not clarify that the incident occurred seven years earlier.

The footage was from a season finale aired in 2011 but was available on Facebook for 24 hours before being removed.

As part of the episode, Ramsay also filmed the discovery of three dead mice in the restaurant.

Cajun Conti, the company behind Oceana Grill, stated: “None of the above-described events were real, but were contrived and orchestrated by defendants to manufacture drama for their show.”

The lawsuit claims: “During the episode’s filming, defendants went to great lengths to over-dramatise and even fabricate problems with the restaurant in order to increase ratings.

“The footage intentionally portrayed Oceana and its employees in a patently false and negative light, as it depicted the appealing restaurant as an unsuccessful, unsanitary and mismanaged restaurant.”

Despite the controversy, Oceana Grill is one of the few restaurants that continue to thrive years after the episode aired.
