One might assume that an A-lister like Ryan Reynolds would leave a memorable impression on anyone he kisses… well, it appears you’d be mistaken.
Morena Baccarin spent two days kissing the Canadian star and astonishingly referred to it as ‘kissing a giant latex condom’.
Blake Lively, if you happen to be reading this, before you get upset and confront your husband and the father of your children, remember he was simply performing his role while filming Deadpool.
Anyone who has seen the 2016 film is likely familiar with the sex ‘scene’, a montage spanning an entire year of intimacy.
Baccarin was responsible for kissing her on-screen partner in both the original Deadpool film and its 2018 sequel, portraying Vanessa Carlysle, the fiancée of the protagonist.
Reynolds played Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool.
To be fair to the Wrexham owner, he was wearing a mask during the extensive sex scene montage. Baccarin also praised his professionalism throughout the scenes.
The humorous montage features the duo dressed in various costumes to celebrate numerous seasons and holidays throughout the year.
They commemorate Valentine’s Day, International Women’s Day, Christmas, and several other national holidays.
In a 2017 interview with Conan O’Brien, Baccarin elaborated on the explicit two-day shoot for the movie.
She said: “[The film] was really fun… minus the two days of sex scenes, it was wonderful, the whole experience.”
The Greenland actress elaborated: “It took two days to shoot the sex scene, because I think it was us making sweet love for an entire calendar year. So it was all the holidays, you know. So we dressed differently for every one.”
In a 2018 conversation with People magazine, Baccarin mentioned that Deadpool’s costume didn’t do much for Reynolds.
“I keep saying that kissing him in that mask is like kissing a giant latex condom,” she said.
“It basically just smells like rubber the entire time.”
That’s certainly not what anyone wants to hear about a kissing experience, is it?
However, Baccarin has noted how Reynolds’ professionalism made the situation more manageable.
“[T]here’s a lot of laughing. And that stuff is always uncomfortable,” she told Collider in 2015. “But, we made the best of it.”
Baccarin added: “By the end of the day you’re like ‘Okay, where do you want me, how do you-?’ You’re like spreading your legs and you’re like whatever, it’s just, you get so used to each other.”
