Jessi Draper revealed that Scheana Shay tried to join the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives following her exit from Vanderpump Rules.
Jessi, 34, told Stassi, 38, in the season premiere of House of Stassi, which aired on Wednesday, July 29.
“I have tea for you about Scheana,” Draper told Stassi Schroeder during the series premiere. “She told me she is walking away from Bravo completely.”
The bombshell came during a casual lunch conversation between the two reality stars on Draper’s new talk show.
“And then [Scheana] goes, ‘So do you have any events coming up? [My husband] Brock [Davies] was Mormon so maybe I can come be on your show,'” Draper recalled.
Schroeder was far from shocked by the alleged pitch.
“Scheana loves the spotlight,” she said in a confessional. “I would be more surprised if she didn’t try to get on Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.”
The former Vanderpump Rules star doubled down on her skepticism.
“I can’t get away from this woman. Scheana will 100% show up at my funeral and make it about her,” Stassi began in a confessional about her ex-Vanderpump Rules co-star.
However, sources close to Scheana disputed Draper’s version of events, insisting the moment was lighthearted.
A person who attended the Salt Lake City stop of Scheana’s book tour recalls an audience member submitted a question during a live Q&A moderated by Jessi asking whether Scheana would consider joining either “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” or Mormon Wives, to which “Well, Brock was raised Mormon,” prompted laughs from Scheana, Jessi and the audience.
The source says Jessi seems to be manipulating the tone of what was a lighthearted interaction to make it sound as though Scheana was seriously campaigning to join MomTok.
Brock Davies’ Mormon upbringing has long been part of his public persona.
Brock elaborated on his upbringing while filming a confessional, adding, “I was raised in the Mormon church until I was 14.
“So there’s a small little Mormon boy in me that is very uncomfortable when there’s women dancing around me.”
Stassi later expressed regret about the segment airing on her show, telling Page Six she felt “really bad” about the inclusion.
“And they were like, ‘And it’s too funny that she tried to get on Mormon Wives.’ And so I’m like, ‘Okay, fine. Fair.’ But I feel guilty about it.”
“I do because I appreciate Scheana’s hustle. I respect it. I respect it.”
When asked if she’d ever invite Scheana onto House of Stassi, Stassi had a simple answer.
“No.”
Scheana had turned down another opportunity just months prior.
She was looking forward to new ventures — including appearances on VPR’s spinoff The Valley. (She ultimately didn’t join the cast in season 3 unlike fellow former VPR star Lala Kent.)
“I am excited for new opportunities ahead outside of Vanderpump Rules, but I’m also a nostalgic person and it’s never easy to say goodbye,” she concluded. “Lala and I had a good cry about it on the podcast, something that was such a big part of my life for so long. But also I think it was time. Honestly, it all feels right. It’s still all happening. It’s just happening a little differently.”
Meanwhile, Draper has dealt with her own controversies surrounding her appearance on Vanderpump Villa.
As SLOMW fans may recall, Scheana alluded to Jessi and Marciano going to a hotel together during a 2025 episode of her podcast, which Jessi reacted to a short time later.
Draper said she immediately addressed the matter with Scheana.
“I was really close with her, so I was really shocked to see that. Luckily, she did give me a heads-up, though; she told me the podcast was coming out,” Jessi shared with Us Weekly. “But after it came out, I did send her a 10-minute voice memo going over my side of things, because she had never really heard my side. After that, she was like, ‘Oh, this makes a lot of sense.’ Like, she had a lot of the facts wrong, and there were things she didn’t know, so I set the record straight and we’re good now.”
The exchange is the latest chapter in the longtime dynamic between the former Vanderpump Rules castmates, who both appeared on the Bravo series when it premiered in 2013.
Neither Scheana nor Hulu have announced plans for her to appear on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
