A BBC documentary “Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret” airing Wednesday features 10 women accusing Jared Leto, 54, of sexual misconduct when they were teenagers.
The women claim the interactions occurred between 2002 and 2016, when the actor was in his 30s and 40s.
One woman accuses the Oscar winner of assaulting her in a motel bathroom when she was 17.
Using the pseudonym Isabel, a woman alleged she was sexually assaulted by Leto in a Las Vegas motel bathroom in 2002, when she was 17, with Leto grabbing her hand and using it to masturbate himself in the shower.
“Alarms started going off in my head,” she said.
A second woman, Alex, accused Leto of making a sexual threat after attending a Thirty Seconds to Mars concert at London’s O2 Arena in 2013 when she was 19, recalling being encouraged to attend an after-party but claiming she walked into a dark hotel room containing just Leto.
When she mentioned concerns about age, he allegedly replied, “Age is just a number, and anyway, we’re in Europe.”
Alex felt unsafe, suggested she sleep on the chaise longue in the room, before Leto allegedly told her that she would wake up “with a dick in her ass.”
A third woman, identified as Clara, described encountering Leto at age 17 in California.
She told the BBC, “He told me, ‘I would like you to call me daddy,’ ‘And it was either pretend to be a little girl or ‘my little girl.'”
She said she was “so naive and vulnerable” and had no sense of how “normal” this behavior was, adding it was only later she “realized more and more how scary that really was,” noting Leto “shrugged off” her concerns about the age of consent.
A fourth woman, called Etta, faced repeated sexual calls from Leto starting when she was 16 after meeting him at a Los Angeles modeling agency.
Identified as Etta by the BBC, the woman said she was later asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement by Leto, which she refused but showed the relevant document to the BBC.
Additionally, other women reported strange and sexual phone calls from Leto when they were younger.
One woman recalled meeting Leto at a music festival in 2005 when she was 14, saying when she held out a T-shirt for him to sign, “he signed across my breasts, and he told me ‘you have a nice rack.'”
She said, “He was asking his bodyguard to go ahead and take me backstage.”
Two men who worked with Leto’s band Thirty Seconds to Mars spoke to the documentary and claimed staff felt uncomfortable about the way Leto would interact with teenage girls, sometimes inviting them backstage to his dressing room or to the house where he was recording, with one saying, “I think everyone thought the age gap was way too big.”
According to the BBC, it has corroborated “a number of the women’s accounts with friends and family who were told about the encounters with Leto at the time” and in some cases seen pictures and messages that “support the women’s accounts.”
Meanwhile, Leto has not publicly responded to the BBC documentary’s allegations.
The Suicide Squad actor, now aged 54, did not respond to the BBC’s requests for comment.
This is not the first wave of accusations targeting the “Dallas Buyers Club” star and frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars.
Last year, L.A. DJ Allie Teilz publicly accused Leto of sexual misconduct, alleging he assaulted and traumatized her when she was 17 years old.
The post was a screenshot of a Facebook status update she published in 2012, in which she said: “Youre [sic] not really in LA until Jared Leto tries to force himself on you backstage at an M83 show.. In a Kilt..”
In a follow-up Instagram post, Teilz wrote: “I was assaulted and traumatized by this creep when I was 17” and added: “He knew my age and didn’t care. What he did was predatory, terrifying and unacceptable.”
The viral post sparked further allegations from other women on social media.
In a report in Air Mail in June 2025, nine women accused Leto of engaging in inappropriate behavior.
At that time, his representatives issued a blanket denial.
Leto’s rep “expressly denied” the women’s accusations, including Teilz’s, which was said to be “demonstrably false.”
In the viral moment that ignited the recent cascade of allegations, DJ Allie Teilz reposted a 2012 Facebook status to her Instagram Stories in May 2025.
The original post, written over a decade earlier, described a backstage encounter at an M83 show where Leto allegedly tried to “force himself” on her while wearing a kilt and snow hat.
Her decision to resurrect and amplify the long-buried claim on social media opened a floodgate, with dozens of women responding with their own stories in the comments.
Teilz later shared 50 responses from women she claimed to personally know, signaling the accusations were not isolated incidents but part of a broader pattern.
The BBC’s new documentary builds on last year’s Air Mail investigation that detailed nine women’s accounts and brings the total number of accusers to 10, with the documentary marking the public debut of nine of these women’s stories.
“This was 25 years ago… he has gotten away with it,” one alleged victim told the BBC.
The programme airs July 29 at 9pm on BBC Three and 10:45 on BBC One.
