Must-Watch Top 5 Titles Before Netflix Removes Them Soon

While many of us hope that our favorite films will remain on Netflix indefinitely, unfortunately, this is not the reality.

As Netflix subscribers are aware, only Netflix originals are guaranteed to stay on the platform indefinitely. Other content is subject to removal because Netflix does not own all the material it streams, and once a licensing agreement expires, the film or TV series must be removed.

Previously, popular films such as Dunkirk, The Breakfast Club, Everest, Lucy, and Matilda were taken off the platform in August, as reported by TUDUM. Now, several other beloved titles are set to depart Netflix in early September.

With this in mind, we’ve compiled a list of some of the top-rated movies with over 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes that are soon leaving Netflix. Enjoy!

Released in 2022, Barbarian has received a remarkable 92 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. One critic praised it as ‘smart, well-produced, and suspenseful’. Some viewers have drawn comparisons between the movie and Jordan Peele’s Nope.

The film stars Bill Skarsgård, along with Georgina Campbell (known for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) and Justin Long (Tusk, New Girl, and He’s Just Not That Into You).

If you have an Airbnb reservation soon, you might want to reconsider watching Barbarian. The plot follows a young woman named Tess who stays at an Airbnb in Detroit, only to find it double-booked with a man named Keith (Skarsgård). Both decide to stay, but the house reveals more than meets the eye when they discover a hidden tunnel…

Barbarian will no longer be available on Netflix starting September 1.

Sicario, another film boasting a 92 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, is also departing soon.

This action-packed movie features a star-studded cast, including Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place, The Fall Guy, and The Devil Wears Prada), Josh Brolin (The Goonies, Weapons, and Avengers: Infinity War), and Benicio del Toro (Reptile, The Phoenician Scheme, and Snatch).

According to IMDb, the 2015 film tells the story of “an idealistic FBI agent who is enlisted by a government task force to combat the escalating war against drugs at the US-Mexico border.”

One review described the film as “a thriller wound so tight that you’ll probably need a lie down and a sizeable drink afterwards.”

Sicario was recognized with numerous award nominations, including three Oscars, three BAFTAs, and five Critics Choice Awards.

Sicario will leave Netflix on September 1.

Following the success of Get Out, Jordan Peele released Us in 2019, starring Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o. The film also features Winston Duke (Black Panther) and Elisabeth Moss (Handmaid’s Tale).

This psychological horror follows a family vacationing in California where Adelaide (Nyong’o) grew up. Their trip takes a terrifying turn when four masked intruders break into their home. Once unmasked, the intruders reveal themselves to be identical to Adelaide, her husband, and their children.

Us received widespread acclaim upon its release and maintains an impressive 93 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. One fan described the film on the reviewing platform as a must-see for horror enthusiasts.

Us will be removed from Netflix on September 1.

If you haven’t yet watched Curse of the Were-Rabbit, it’s a must-see before its departure from Netflix.

This beloved collaboration between Aardman Studios and DreamWorks is a cult favorite, having triumphed over films like Corpse Bride and Howl’s Moving Castle to win an Oscar in 2006.

The first Wallace & Gromit short film, A Grand Day Out, debuted in 1989 and quickly became a British classic. Three more short films followed before the feature-length Curse of the Were-Rabbit hit theaters in 2005, still holding a 95 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating two decades later.

According to the official Wallace & Gromit website, the film’s synopsis is: “Wallace and Gromit’s latest business venture – a human pest-control outfit called ‘Anti-Pesto’ – is booming, but with days to go before the Giant Vegetable Competition, the enterprising duo are struggling to manage all the captive rabbits overrunning West Wallaby Street.”

Curse of the Were-Rabbit will leave Netflix on September 1.

This impactful 2023 film has garnered critical praise and several award nominations.

One reviewer on Rotten Tomatoes commented: “Four Daughters blends truth and fiction with rare transparency, and does it for a purpose. You won’t see another film quite like it this year, or really any year.”

Four Daughters depicts the true story of a Tunisian woman, Olfa Hamrouni, and her four daughters, two of whom disappear after being radicalized by Islamic extremists. The film features real family members alongside actors reenacting certain scenes.

Four Daughters will no longer be available on Netflix starting September 5.
