Myron Gaines’ ex Angie speaks out about why they broke up after Louis Theroux’s Manosphere doc

Myron Gaines’ former partner has explained what led to their split, as viewers continue discussing Louis Theroux’s documentary focusing on the online manosphere.

The Netflix investigation explores the rapid growth of so-called “manfluencers” and the impact they can have on young male audiences through social media. Several prominent figures in the space have faced criticism for promoting viewpoints widely seen as misogynistic and homophobic.

In the film, Theroux meets Sudanese-American commentator Gaines, whose real name is Amrou Fudl.

Gaines previously worked as a special tactical unit agent for the Department of Homeland Security. He is also known as a co-founder of the Fresh and Fit Podcast and the author of Why Women Deserve Less.

During their conversation, Theroux asks Angie—who was dating Gaines at the time—about his support for “one-way monogamy.” In the documentary, she does not appear to challenge the arrangement.

Since the documentary aired, it has emerged that the couple separated not long afterward. Angie later credited Theroux with prompting her to reassess her situation and what she wanted going forward.

She replied: “I really think in a weird way I have to thank Louis Theroux because somehow his questions kinda like made me question myself and the future of everything.

“And that is something that I truly hadn’t done before, not, like, deeply like I did after that. And part of it is what’s he’s doing. So there is that.”

In another clip shared on TikTok, Angie said she has since gone to therapy and is now in a different relationship.

“Hey it’s me Angie, finally coming out of my shell on social media,” she said.

“I want to leave this behind, I want to leave the past in the past. I’ve already been through a lot, I’ve been through therapy, I’ve heard a zillion pep talks of what my friends and family had to say.

“I am so blessed and so thankful to say that I am in a new relationship where I don’t have to worry about any of this. I met this amazing man who cares for me, who makes me feel so special, makes me so happy.’

She added: “I couldn’t be more grateful for him, I can finally say I see a future with somebody and he can see a future with me.”

Gaines, meanwhile, has offered his own explanation for why they broke up, saying Angie wanted to start a family—something he says he is not able to provide at the moment.

He explained on his podcast: “She wants a family, guys, and she’s been waiting around for it for a minute. So, who the f*ck am I to tell her, ‘Nah, keep waiting’ or deny her that?’

“Especially when she’s been so good to me. This woman has sacrificed so much for me.”

He also described Angie as a supportive partner and said he held no ill will toward her, while taking responsibility for the situation.

The podcaster said Angie was a ‘good girlfriend’ and he had ‘nothing bad to say to her’, adding: “Honestly this sh*t is on me though.”
