Nene Leakes Says 23-Year-Old Son Suffered a Stroke, Heart Failure

NeNe Leakes, formerly of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” has asked for prayers and support from viewers while her son, Brentt, deals with “severe” health problems.

“Two weeks ago today, Brentt had congestive heart failure and a stroke,” she revealed in an Instagram Story on Monday. “He’s really young for something like that to happen to him.”

Monday morning reports revealead that Brentt had been admitted to an Atlanta hospital earlier this month. Leakes updated her Instagram followers on her son’s condition, explaining that physicians had first suspected that he was struggling with “some serious infection,” specifically HIV or COVID-19. She added that several tests were conducted by medical professionals, but the underlying reason is still unclear.

“It was very scary, I don’t even want to go into details. What happened, how I found out and what condition he was in,” Leakes continued. “Obviously, a stroke is a very serious thing and he’s struggling with speaking … Just keep us in your prayers.”

Leakes discussed her personal health problems while discussing her son’s. She mentioned that in 2013 she had experienced blood clots in her lungs and that physicians are “thinking that Brentt was born with some sort of disease, or something with his heart since he was a kid and it just never showed up until now.”

In addition, she mentioned that her son was “very stressed out” last month because it had been a year since Gregg Leakes’ death in September 2021.

Leakes also said that her son’s involvement with the Linnethia Lounge, a bar in the Atlanta area, may be for sale owing to his current health problems.

“This is just a lot right now on me, so if there’s anybody out there that’s possibly interested in the lounge, send them my way,” she said. “If they are interested in purchasing it, it’s very possible that we will sell the lounge, because it is something that I shared with Brentt after Gregg’s passing.”

Leakes has assured her fans that her son is “in good spirits” despite the club’s possible sale and his health problems.

Leakes filed suit against Bravo and NBCU in October, claiming that the production firms for the “Real Housewives” series created and encouraged a racist and toxic workplace.

NBC, Bravo, and True “promote a corporate and professional atmosphere where racially insensitive and improper behavior is tolerated — if not encouraged,” the complaint alleged in April.
