Netflix audience hails new cruise ship thriller ’10/10′ as it tops the charts

Netflix viewers are raving about a new thriller featuring Keira Knightley, describing it as a ’10/10.’

The film, which was released on Friday, October 10, has quickly risen to the top of Netflix’s most-watched list.

It currently holds the number one spot globally, beating out titles like Caramelo, KPop Demon Hunters, and My Father, the BTK Killer, according to Flixpatrol.

Keira Knightley, renowned for her role in Pirates of the Caribbean, stars in this suspenseful cruise ship drama. She portrays Laura ‘Lo’ Blacklock, a journalist assigned to cover the maiden voyage of a lavish yacht navigating the Norwegian fjords.

However, during her first night on the ship, she experiences a horrifying event.

She hears what sounds like a woman falling overboard from the adjacent cabin—raising the question, did someone push her?

When she reports the incident to the crew and fellow passengers, they all claim that no one is missing and deny any such event occurred.

Unfazed, Lo decides to use her investigative skills to piece together evidence and unravel the mystery.

This movie, The Woman in Cabin 10, is adapted from Ruth Ware’s 2016 novel and directed by Simon Stone.

In the Netflix Bangers Facebook Group, one viewer enthusiastically recommended it, saying: “The Woman in Cabin 10 is a must watch! 10/10.”

Others agreed, with one commenting: “Just finished it. I agree. Loved it!” Another added: “I thought it was good. A movie [where] I didn’t predict what was going to happen.”

However, not everyone shared the same enthusiasm; some felt the film moved a bit too slowly.

On Rotten Tomatoes, The Woman in Cabin 10 received a low 26 percent rating from critics.

Audience ratings weren’t much higher, at 34 percent, though some viewers still found it worthwhile.

One reviewer noted: “I read and loved the book, so was keen to see the film adaptation. This is a more than solid take. Keira Knightley is a good choice for Laura’s character. Guy Pierce is always fun to watch. It’s not perfect but I think it deserves far better reviews than I’ve seen so far!”

Another added: “It fits the bill for a thriller film with great visuals, good cast and twist and turns.”

Director Stone revealed that filming was quite challenging, describing the experience as his ‘worst nightmare.’ The movie was shot on a yacht in the English Channel, making for a complex setting.

He explained: “Usually on film sets there are ways to escape. You can say, ‘I’m just going to my trailer for a second,’ or someone can drive to Costa Coffee for you.

“But out in the middle of the English Channel, leaving at seven in the morning and coming back at eight in the evening, you’re stuck on the boat.

“There’s literally nowhere to go. The only way to escape would be to jump overboard.”

He added: “It was almost my worst nightmare at first, not having control over my method of escape. But I had to surrender. It actually teaches you to surrender.”

The Woman in Cabin 10 is now available to stream on Netflix.
