Netflix’s scripted chief has broken her silence on rumors Meghan Markle could join “The Gentlemen.”
Manda Levin, 47, the streaming giant’s head of scripted content, was asked about the Duchess of Sussex’s potential casting in Guy Ritchie’s action-comedy series while appearing at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Wednesday. Her four-word reply immediately sent fans into a frenzy.
“All bets are off,” Levin said when pressed on Markle’s rumored involvement, according to multiple reports from the festival.
The cryptic comment comes after reports said last week that Markle, 43, is being considered for a currently unknown role in Season 3 of the hit show. The role “is currently being written, so it’s unclear how many episodes [Meghan] would appear in,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
While Markle’s representative was not available for comment, a Netflix representative confirmed that the series has been renewed for a third season. “The Gentlemen,” starring Theo James, first premiered on Netflix in March 2024, with its second season scheduled to debut on Sept. 3.
The casting speculation arrives as Markle and husband Prince Harry, 40, have made their highly publicized move back to England with their two young children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The children reportedly start school in England next week.
“There have been inquiries in the entertainment space recently and things she is considering but nothing is confirmed right now,” a source exclusively said on Aug. 21.
Our source added, “Something is being discussed but it’s not solid.”
The potential casting would carry particular irony given Markle’s recent history with the streaming platform. Netflix cut ties with her polarizing lifestyle brand, As Ever, in March and declined to renew her two-season series, “With Love, Meghan.”
“Her show did not go on so it did not make sense to continue the partnership,” an industry source exclusively said at the time.
Yet “The Gentlemen” fits neatly with Markle’s apparent pivot back toward her acting roots. The series is set in England and filmed in the UK, matching her family’s new base.
Markle, best known for her breakout role as Rachel Zane in the legal drama “Suits” from 2011 to 2018, stepped back from acting to focus on royal life in 2017 following her engagement to Harry. In November 2025, eight years after leaving the screen, reports said she was making her return.
She is set to make a cameo as herself in the upcoming Amazon MGM comedy “Close Personal Friends” alongside Brie Larson and Lily Collins. A release date has yet to be announced.
At the time, a source said that Harry was “really supportive” of her decision and “quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy.”
