Netflix is bringing back a celebrated sci-fi series to its collection after a three-year absence.
Fans of science fiction will be thrilled by this comeback, which follows Prime Video’s recent announcement of the show’s first spin-off series in several years.
Beginning February 15, all 10 seasons of the renowned series will be available on Netflix in the US, UK, and Latin America.
The series was previously available on Netflix before being removed in late 2022 and subsequently added to Prime Video’s offerings.
The series in question is Stargate SG-1, which originally aired from 1997 to 2007.
The storyline revolves around a top-tier US Air Force team assigned to explore the universe using an ancient alien technology known as the Stargate, which facilitates travel between distant planets via wormholes.

Following the events of the 1994 film, the series focuses on SG-1, a team of four comprising Colonel Jack O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson), archaeologist Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks), astrophysicist Captain Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping), and Teal’c (Christopher Judge), a former Goa’uld warrior who allies with Earth.
The series maintained an impressive 90 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes over all 10 seasons.
Fans have consistently praised Stargate SG-1, with one calling it ‘one of the best sci-fi shows of all time.’
“The best TV series ever,” commented another enthusiast. “I’ve probably watched it five to six times. I love them all.”
There is much to anticipate with a new era on the horizon, as Amazon MGM studios announced in November that a new original series is being developed for Prime Video.
This project is the franchise’s first significant revival since Stargate Universe concluded in 2011.

Veteran Stargate writer and producer Martin Gero, who will be the showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the spinoff, has assured fans of ‘something extraordinary’.
“Twenty years ago, my first real job in television was as a story editor on Stargate: Atlantis. I spent five years at the franchise working across all three series, Stargate taught me everything about making television – it’s written into my DNA,” Gero expressed.
“I’m beyond thrilled that Amazon MGM Studios has entrusted me with guiding this incredible franchise into its next phase.”
He added: “For those who’ve kept the gate active through conventions, rewatches, and unwavering faith – this one’s for you. And for those that are new to our world – I promise you’re in for something extraordinary.”
While specifics about the plot are still under wraps, the new series aims to honor the established lore while providing a fresh and modern introduction for new viewers.
Stargate SG-1 returns to Netflix on February 15.
Both Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe are currently available on Prime Video.
