Netflix users are eagerly requesting a second season of a newly launched drama that has been described as ’10/10′ and can be watched entirely in one day.
Adapting popular books for Netflix is not rare, but a compelling read doesn’t always guarantee a successful TV adaptation.
However, The Hunting Wives, based on the bestselling novel by May Cobb, seems to have struck a chord with audiences.
This series, consisting of eight episodes, centers on Sophie, a woman who relocates from Boston to a rural area in Texas, seeking a new beginning.
The narrative takes a sinister turn as Sophie becomes entangled with a socialite, leading to a dangerous mix of obsession, seduction, and murder.
The cast includes Brittany Snow, Malin Åkerman, Dermot Mulroney, Chrissy Metz, Jaime Ray Newman, Evan Jonigkeit, and Katie Lowes. The show is produced by Rebecca Perry Cutter, Erwin Stoff, and the novel’s author, May Cobb.
Within the ‘Netflix Bangers’ Facebook group, The Hunting Wives is a hot topic, with most viewers praising its gripping storyline.
One fan commented, “The Hunting Wives 10/10,” while another expressed hopes for a continuation, saying: “I finished bingeing last night. Hoping there’s a season 2.”
Another viewer mentioned: “I’ve just started this, only on first episode lol. It’s good so far, weird but good lol,” and another added: “Crazy good series!!!”
Yet another shared their enthusiasm with: “Omg I love it!”
The Hunting Wives boasts a 75 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with numerous critics praising the show.
Roxana Hadadi from Vulture noted: “Whichever way The Hunting Wives goes in a second season, though, it’ll be building on a rock-solid foundation of soap-opera plotting and a strong grasp of tone.”
Joel Keller of Decider remarked: “The Hunting Wives is a show you know is going to be ridiculous going in, and it doesn’t try to hide its sexy, at times campy personality under the sheen of a prestige drama.”
Robert Lloyd from the Los Angeles Times commented: “The characters are types, but the actors fill them out well, and the dynamic between Margo and Sophie really is … dynamic.”
If you’re curious to see what the buzz is about, The Hunting Wives is currently available to stream on Netflix in the US.
