Netflix has sparked debate among fans by reviving a popular show, albeit with a small twist.
Known for frequently canceling well-loved series after a single season, Netflix often surprises audiences when it announces the return of a successful show.
So much so that fans often joke on social media, predicting that Netflix will cancel a show soon after they become attached to it.
However, following a groundbreaking premiere, this particular series quickly garnered a vast audience worldwide and received acclaim from both fans and critics.
The show has an impressive rating of 8.0 out of 10 on IMDB and holds an 83 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. It was generally well-received by critics, achieving a 77 percent score on the Tomatometer.
The series became Netflix’s most-watched English-language show at the time it aired and significantly boosted Jenna Ortega’s career.
The show in question is Wednesday, a spin-off reimagining of the original The Addams Family, concentrating on the character Wednesday Addams.
Premiering in 2022, the show was a major success, and fans were thrilled when Netflix announced its return in early 2023, with a release scheduled for 2025.
Season 2 began on August 6, but it was divided into two parts, with the second part set to release on September 3 later this year.
This decision has not been well-received by many fans.
In the Facebook group, Netflix Bangers, where discussions about all things film and TV on the platform take place, numerous people expressed their dissatisfaction.
While some questioned if the new season matched the quality of the first, many were particularly upset about the episode split, as they had hoped to binge-watch the entire season.
One member commented: “Why is it split in 2 parts. I hate that.”
Another expressed: “Not as great as the first season so far but it might pick up the last few episodes. Thinking it just took too long to return. Netflix does that though.”
A third remarked: “I’m hoping the second half will be better-I agree WTH!”
Another viewer added: “Just finished it and I’m so pissed they broke it up into two parts smfh.”
Another echoed similar sentiments, writing: “IM MORE MAD i have to wait until september like i wanna get it done and over with, I have short term memory loss by then smh.”
