A recent crime series on Netflix has captured the attention of subscribers, becoming a popular choice for binge-watching.
Netflix consistently releases new films and TV series, making it easy to overlook some hidden gems, particularly if they are non-English productions and you’re not active on social media platforms like Twitter.
In a matter of weeks, a Swedish crime drama has climbed into the top 10 of non-English shows on Netflix, garnering significant praise on social media.
Having debuted on the streaming service on April 15 this year, the mini-series has accumulated an impressive 73 million hours viewed, despite consisting of just six episodes.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the show boasts a noteworthy 88 percent tomatometer score, though it has a much lower audience score of 55 percent.
Titled The Glass Dome, the series has received positive attention from reviewers who consider it worth watching.
One critic noted: “Although it tags a few familiar bases — an unreliable main character who’s overmedicating, a less than bereaved husband — it’s always engrossing even when the actions of the characters get more and more infuriating.”
Another added: “While the limited series isn’t perfect, it still gives you a solid half-day binge with a few chilling moments and mild entertainment.”
The plot revolves around a criminologist and her former police chief partner as they investigate a young girl’s case in a small Swedish town. This location is also where the protagonist was previously held hostage as a child.
The storyline has captivated many viewers, with several sharing their impressions on social media.
A Twitter user expressed: “This Nordic Noir series was absolutely mind blowing!! Please Watch the glass dome on Netflix!”
Another user said: “If you’re a fan of the crime genre (esp serial killer psycho types) check out “The Glass Dome” on Netflix! (Standard trigger warnings apply).”
A third viewer commented: “The glass dome on Netflix was so good. I didn’t see that twist coming until the moment it happened. Men are evil!!!!”
Additionally, another viewer shared: “Just binged Glaskupan (The Glass Dome) on Netflix and wow, this Nordic thriller had me on edge! Perfect mix of suspense and mystery, after true detective, Mind Hunter, The chestnut man, This one got me. 7/10, Highly recommend!”
