Netflix to introduce ’11/10′ comedy classic and its sequel hailed as the ‘ideal 90s film’

Netflix is about to welcome the return of two ‘modern classics’ to its platform, including a film celebrated as the ‘perfect 90s movie’.

As we approach the start of a new month, Netflix is set to adjust its extensive library of 7,000 titles.

Periodically, the streaming giant removes several movies and TV shows from its selection.

This often takes viewers by surprise, but don’t worry, there is a list of 132 titles being removed in August.

The shakeup makes room for fresh content, such as a Leonardo DiCaprio movie praised as ‘the GOAT of cinema’. Additionally, a few more ‘timeless’ films will be added to the collection.

You might be familiar with these films already, but their reviews suggest they’re well worth revisiting…

The coming-of-age films feature a talented cast, including Jason Biggs, Chris Klein, Alyson Hannigan, and Natasha Lyonne.

You might have an idea of what films are being discussed…

The first movie depicts a group of high school seniors as they navigate the complexities of teenage life, relationships, and sexual awakening.

The story revolves around Jim Levenstein (Biggs) and his three close friends – Oz (Klein), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), and Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) – who pledge to lose their virginity before graduation.

Each character faces their own comedic – and sometimes painful – challenges in fulfilling their pact.

The sequel catches up with the friends a year later, during the summer after their first college year.

Yes, we’re talking about 1999’s American Pie and 2001’s American Pie 2.

According to What’s On Netflix, both films are scheduled to be available on the US platform starting Friday, August 1.

Together, the movies have grossed nearly $250 million, based on Box Office Mojo’s data.

While American Pie 2 earned more at the box office, it also received higher viewer ratings than the original.

Rotten Tomatoes users gave American Pie an average score of 61 percent, while American Pie 2 achieved a 68 percent average.

However, critics favored the original, rating it 62 percent compared to the sequel’s 51 percent.

Many fans consider American Pie the ‘perfect 90s movie.’ One fan who recently rewatched it commented: “It’s a modern classic, won’t get any movies like these anymore.”

Another fan expressed: “11/10, absolutely loved it,” and a third social media user added: “Unhinged and so funny.”

American Pie 2 also received praise, with one fan noting: “A worthwhile sequel that stays true to the original while adding its own levels of humor and comedy. This time, there is more room for character growth, which, fortunately, adds to the film.”

“Another awesome 90’s movie that has withstood the test of time,” another commented, while a third said: “All-time classic – a great follow-up, maybe even better than the first.”

Both American Pie and American Pie 2 will join Netflix US on Friday, August 1.
