Netflix viewers claim film ‘disturbing on multiple levels’ is among the best they’ve watched

Viewers on Netflix have described a movie as ‘upsetting on so many levels’, while it achieves an almost perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

There are many films that are known for being emotionally powerful.

True story adaptations often have a significant impact by tugging at our emotions.

Consider the 1997 film Titanic, which ends in disaster, yet remains a classic that people continue to revisit.

Or think of The Notebook, which delivers an emotional impact through the story of a couple defying societal norms.

Now, a new addition on Netflix has quickly risen to the second spot on its US film chart.

This biopic, based on a real-life tragic story, was originally released in August.

Called Rob Peace, the film narrates the life of a gifted young man from New Jersey facing numerous challenges.

Despite his skills in math and science, his life is complicated by his father’s imprisonment for double murder.

Rob’s journey to Yale University is fraught with risk as he attempts to overturn his father’s conviction.

The narrative involves numerous heart-wrenching family tragedies along the way.

The cast is led by Tulsa King’s Jay Will as Rob, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, who both wrote and directed the film, plays his father Robert ‘Skeet’ Peace.

Other notable cast members include Mary J. Blige, Camila Cabello, Mare Winningham, and Michael Kelly.

Despite its intense storyline, Rob Peace has achieved a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Viewers have given it a 94 percent rating, although critics rated it at 74 percent.

One viewer described the film as a ‘must-see,’ commenting: “A story to be told. Portrayed exceptionally.”

Another viewer said: “Beautiful yet tragic story. Great to watch,” while a third praised it as ‘compelling and heartfelt.’

On Twitter, fans continued to express their admiration. One tweeted: “Watching Rob Peace on Netflix. It’s upsetting on so many levels. A really good movie. A really sad story. Heavy.”

Another remarked: “I just watched Rob Peace on Netflix and it’s one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time! Wow.”

A third added: “Rob Peace is one of the best Netflix movies I’ve seen wow.”

The movie is adapted from the 2014 book The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace, authored by Rob’s friend and fellow Yale student, Jeff Hobbs.

Rob Peace is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
