Netflix viewers have limited time to watch ‘incredible’ horror film featuring ‘unprecedented’ gore

Netflix users have limited time left to watch a notable horror film that has been acclaimed for elevating gore to unprecedented levels.

The streaming giant updates its selection frequently – some titles disappear quickly, only to be replaced by new must-watch options.

For horror enthusiasts, take heed – a highly acclaimed thriller will be leaving Netflix in June, so be sure to watch it soon.

This film gained popularity on the platform earlier this year, but you might not have seen it yet.

The story revolves around Sue Ann (played by Octavia Spencer), a veterinary assistant in her middle age, who one evening befriends a group of teenagers unable to buy alcohol.

She offers Maggie (Diana Silvers) and her friends a place to party in her basement, with some rules: No swearing, no going upstairs, and someone must remain sober.

Initially, Sue Ann appears to be a cool, if somewhat lonely, older woman seeking companionship.

However, as the teenagers visit more frequently, her behavior becomes erratic, and she grows envious when they skip a visit.

Concerned by Sue Ann’s actions, Maggie discovers unsettling details about her past, but none of the teens are prepared for the lengths she’ll go to.

The film is titled “Ma,” and you can watch its trailer below.

Whether you’ve seen this 2019 film before or it’s been sitting on your lengthy watchlist, now is the time to watch it. Netflix will remove “Ma” on Sunday, June 1, so plan for a viewing or a re-watch soon. Check out what other titles are leaving here.

On Rotten Tomatoes, viewers have applauded “Ma” extensively.

“As far as horror, thriller and gore goes this is your movie! Truly incredible…” wrote one user.

“Wow! This is a new level of gore and horror,” another commented. “I was no where near expecting that. Great film. Great cast.”

A third viewer added: “A really iconic movie, I loved it.”

Many viewers commended Spencer for her performance, stating she was the film’s standout.

“Octavia Spencer is usually known for her comedy and funny, very animated expressions. But THIS was totally unexpected and flawless,” one fan wrote. “She plays this character so well, it’s completely convincing.”

Another viewer agreed: “Octavia Spencer did a phenomenal job with the acting as always. The range on this woman is great.”

The conversation also took place on Reddit, where one user mentioned: “This movie was carried by Octavia Spencer. She is a gem.”

Another user added: “It’s not the most original movie or anything, but I thought it was really well done, with some great performances pretty much all round.”

Although “Ma” received mixed reviews, with a 55 percent critic score and a slightly improved 64 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, don’t let this deter you from watching it, especially if you’re a fan of horror films.

“Ma” is currently available on Netflix US until Sunday, June 1.
