Netflix viewers ‘left sleepless’ after watching ‘terrifying’ film that had them ‘on the edge of their seats’

Netflix users are flocking to social media in fear over a new supernatural horror film that is based on a true story.

If the end of summer isn’t enough to spook you, Netflix has just released a chilling supernatural horror.

Get ready to keep your lights on tonight:

This thriller was crafted by David Coggeshall (Orphan: First Kill) and Elijah Bynum (Magazine Dreams) with direction from Lee Daniels (Star).

The cast includes Andra Day (The United States vs. Billie Holiday), Glenn Close (Cruella), Rob Morgan (Don’t Look Up), Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things), and Miss Lawrence (The Real Housewives of Atlanta).

The plot draws inspiration from the Ammons haunting case, a paranormal event reported in Gary, Indiana, in 2011. The Ammons family reported mysterious occurrences including swarms of black flies, unexplained footsteps in the basement, and sightings of a “shadowy figure.” Family members claimed they were attacked and possessed, leading to an exorcism being performed by a religious leader.

When the family relocated to Indianapolis in 2012, these supernatural events reportedly stopped.

Titled The Deliverance, this film was released last month and began streaming on Netflix just two days ago on August 30. Nevertheless, it has already sparked a lot of reactions.

As of now, The Deliverance holds a low Rotten Tomatoes tomatometer score of 33 percent and a popcornmeter score of 52 percent.

Despite the scores, thriller enthusiasts are defending the film on social media. One viewer shared their thoughts on LADbible Group’s Facebook page Netflix Bangers, saying:

“This movie had me at the edge of my seat at every moment … definitely a must watch.”

Others have also shared their thoughts.

A Facebook user commented: “I couldn’t sleep after watching this.. What made it even frightening, was it is based on a true story.. I had to watch Mickey’s play house before I went to sleep.”

“This movie was awesome,” another viewer chimed in.

A third person noted: “It was so good so powerful had me under the covers at times.”

Another added: “Just Done Watch This Movie. 100% Loved It … A Must Watch.”

You can now watch The Deliverance on Netflix.
