Netflix watchers rate new true crime series as a ’10/10′ must-see

Netflix users are raving about a new documentary that they claim is more astonishing than “Tiger King”.

The streaming service has a strong reputation for its true crime productions, from revisiting unsolved cases like the murder of JonBenet Ramsey to chronicling a mother’s emotional search for her missing daughter.

However, Netflix’s latest documentary seems so far-fetched, it could be a fictional tale – yet it is not.

This three-part series recounts the story of an Elvis impersonator who was mistakenly accused of attempting to poison Barack Obama.

Paul Curtis’ world was turned upside down in 2013 when he was taken into custody after letters tainted with ricin were sent to the former president as well as two other U.S. officials.

Ricin, a deadly toxin derived from the remnants of processed castor beans, can kill within three days, causing symptoms like vomiting, bloody diarrhea, and kidney failure.

Known in Tupelo, Mississippi, for being part of an Elvis tribute act with his brother, Paul was also an outspoken activist for a rather peculiar cause.

During his time working in a hospital morgue in 1999, he discovered the illegal trafficking and sale of body parts.

Paul became a fervent opponent of this practice, taking to social media to voice his concerns and even drafting legislation to outlaw the sale of body parts in Mississippi.

These efforts, however, were used to set him up for the poisoned letters, as detailed in the new “10/10” documentary series, “Kings of Tupelo: A Southern Crime Drama”.

Paul insisted on his innocence, and his local community was shocked when the true culprit was uncovered.

Viewers have been eagerly watching the series since its release on December 11 and have expressed their opinions on X.

One viewer exclaimed: “Just finished The Kings of Tupelo! 10/10… once again, Netflix is delivering strong content in the fourth quarter,” while another added: “If this isn’t the most bizarre, completely hilarious, unhinged, craziest true crime docuseries to date, I don’t know what is.

“Five stars. You can’t make that stuff up.”

Many believe it has surpassed “Tiger King” as the most outrageous documentary series ever. Those were the days…

One viewer commented: “Kings of Tupelo is, without a doubt, the craziest thing I’ve ever watched on Netflix. It is far wackier than Tiger King, and that is saying a lot.”

Another agreed it’s the ‘wildest documentary I’ve seen since Tiger King,’ while a third called it ‘the new Tiger King.’

Joe Exotic might not be pleased with that comparison…

“Kings of Tupelo” is now available for streaming on Netflix.
