Netflix’s True-Crime Mini-Series With 97% Rating Leaves Viewers Stunned

Netflix subscribers have been captivated by a true-crime mini-series that has achieved nearly perfect ratings.

With the streaming service offering a vast library, it’s no surprise that some exceptional titles sometimes go unnoticed.

One such series is a seven-part documentary that viewers have described as an ‘absolute masterpiece’.

Located in the United States, the series delves into a chilling unsolved murder that rocked Baltimore.

The content is so unsettling that some individuals admitted they couldn’t watch it to the end.

For those who did, the series left a lasting impression, haunting them well beyond the closing credits.

This series investigates the 1969 murder of Sister Cathy Cesnik, a beloved nun and teacher from Baltimore.

Her body was discovered two months after her disappearance, but the case went cold until disturbing revelations brought renewed attention decades later.

In the 1990s, a former student, known only as Jane Doe, came forward with a shocking account of sexual abuse by the school’s chaplain.

Even more alarming, she claimed she was shown Sister Cathy’s body and threatened into silence.

The testimonies from Jane Doe and other victims and witnesses revealed a chilling narrative of systemic abuse and secrecy.

Despite accumulating evidence, no one was ever charged.

Outside of Baltimore, the case received little media attention. However, through compelling interviews with survivors, journalists, and determined citizens, the Netflix series examines a potential cover-up stretching back decades.

The series is called “The Keepers,” and you can watch its trailer below:

On Reddit, a user sought recommendations for a show that would leave them “gagged and shocked”.

“I need to feel something,” they wrote. “I want to watch something that’s going to have me floored multiple times throughout viewing.

“I’m talking jaw-dropping, unexpected, and applause-worthy.”

Suggestions included the new crime drama Dept Q and Netflix’s ‘best ever’ TV series, Dark.

However, many users recommended The Keepers, with one individual stating: “As a true crime enthusiast, I consider it an absolute masterpiece. It’s brutal but so well-done.”

Another confessed: “I consume a lot of true crime and I couldn’t make it through The Keepers.”

A third commenter added: “Very few documentaries – if any at all except this one – absolutely floor me.

“This one literally shocked me to my core. This is a documentary that you must watch.”

Another viewer admitted: “This one lives rent-free in my head. It shook me to the core,” while someone else noted it was the first documentary to give them a ‘jump scare’.

Elsewhere, the series boasts an impressive 97 percent Rotten Tomatoes score across 31 critic reviews.

Over 250 audience members have rated it, averaging 93 percent.

One viewer shared their opinion: “Since its release in 2017, The Keepers has been a top 5 documentary in my book. Brilliantly told with excellent production quality.”

Another agreed: “One of the most spine-chilling docuseries to have come out in recent times, and an emotional one at that.”

All seven episodes of The Keepers are available for streaming on Netflix.
