The new proprietors of the residence where Matthew Perry passed away have disclosed their intentions for the property, sharing images of themselves appreciating the view.
It’s been a little over a year since Perry was discovered unresponsive at his Los Angeles, California home on October 28, 2023. His death was eventually linked to complications involving ketamine.
The beloved Friends actor had taken residence in the house in 2020, posting a picture of himself enjoying the pool shortly before his demise.
Following Perry’s passing, the house was listed for sale, but the new owner noted it was retained ‘off-market’.
In an Instagram post, real estate developer Anita Verma-Lallian confirmed she had acquired the house after closing the deal with estate agent Brooke Elliott Laurinkus.
A collection of photos depicted Verma-Lallian and her husband at the house, seated outside with a view of the pool where Perry died.
Accompanying the images, she described their actions as a ‘blessing and a prayer’, a customary practice in Hinduism.
Verma-Lallian stated: “We are so excited to share that we bought a home in Los Angeles earlier this month! Our agent, @brooke.elliott.laurinkus, said she had an amazing ‘off-market’ property that she really wanted us to see.”
“The moment I walked into the home, I absolutely fell in love with the features, especially the view of the Pacific Ocean,” she went on. “We knew it was ‘the one’ and decided to write an offer on it immediately.
“As a real estate developer myself, I believe every property has a history that we may or may not know about, and every home carries the energy that the current owner brings to it. I am Hindu, and it’s customary to do a blessing and prayer anytime you buy a new home. We were so lucky to have our Panditji from Arizona come to the house to do the blessing.”
Regarding their future plans for the residence, Verma-Lallian assured fans that Perry’s memory is being respected.
She elaborated: “We chose to honor the positive aspects of the previous owner’s life, his immense talent, and all the joy he brought to so many people. The decision to purchase the home had nothing to do with the previous owner, just our love of the home.
“We do plan to keep some of the design elements. The batman logo in the pool is definitely staying. It’s a piece of paradise that is filled with light and the perfect vacation home for us. Can’t wait to make new memories in it.”
Verma-Lallian’s followers have expressed their congratulations on the purchase, with many applauding their choice to preserve parts of the home’s original design.
“Congratulations!,” one individual commented. “It’s so cool to hear that you are keeping the Batman sign in the pool. It is a great tribute to Matt. Enjoy the new home.”
