New Vampire Horror Film Trailer Unveils Adaptation of ‘Stephen King’s Creepiest Book’, So Scary Fans ‘Turned on All the Lights’

A trailer has finally dropped for a highly anticipated vampire horror film adapted from a novel that fans consider Stephen King’s creepiest work.

The prolific author has written over 65 novels and more than 200 short stories, making this accolade from fans particularly significant.

King’s stories, whether well-known like IT and The Shining or more obscure like 1922, always seem prime for film adaptations.

Check out the trailer for the latest Stephen King movie:

The film is Salem’s Lot, which, after facing a challenging production process and several delays, is at last ready for release.

Initially announced in 2019, the film was originally slated for a 2022 theatrical release.

It is now set to premiere early next month on HBO’s streaming service, Max.

The movie sticks closely to the book’s plot, published in 1975, where a writer returns to his hometown only to find it overrun by vampires.

Gary Dauberman directed the film, featuring Lewis Pullman, Bill Camp, and Alfre Woodard in the cast.

One YouTube commenter on the trailer stated: “I think this is Stephen King’s creepiest book. There are so many scenes in the book that get under your skin.

“The Shining and Pet Sematary are very spooky and creepy too but Salem’s Lot just has such good tension throughout the book.”

Another comment read: “The only book I’ve ever read that legitimately made me turn all the lights on in the house.”

On Twitter, a fan responded to the trailer: “Loved the original and this looks great so far. I definitely will be watching.”

Previous adaptations include a mini-series in 1979 and a follow-up film in 1987 titled A Return to Salem’s Lot.

A fan on social media commented: “Horror fans we might be back,” while another described it as an ‘amazing trailer.’

Stephen King previously criticized Warner Bros, the film’s producer, for delaying its release.

He tweeted: “Between you and me, Twitter, I’ve seen the new SALEM’S LOT and it’s quite good.

“Old-school horror filmmaking: slow build, big payoff.

“Not sure why WB is holding it back; not like it’s embarrassing, or anything. Who knows. I just write the f*cking things.”

In various interviews throughout the 1980s, King mentioned that Salem’s Lot is his favorite among his own books.

Salem’s Lot will be available on Max starting Thursday, October 3.
