Russell Wilson, previously known for his time with the Seattle Seahawks, addressed rumors after his name appeared in emails released by the US Department of Justice in connection with Jeffrey Epstein.
The documents, made public on January 30, disclosed various controversial subjects involving notable figures, including a mention of Wilson. Despite his name being included, it is crucial to clarify that this does not imply any misconduct on his part.
Wilson reached out to his followers on social media to clear up any confusion, as this news coincides with his former team, the Seahawks, preparing to face the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl on February 8.
The Seahawks’ most recent Super Bowl appearance was in 2015, where they narrowly lost to the Patriots, adding intensity to the upcoming game.

The Seahawks had previously captured the Super Bowl title in 2014, securing a decisive victory over the Denver Broncos, with Wilson playing a key role.
Recently revealed emails from 2019 show discussions between Epstein and his pilot, Larry Visoski, indicating Wilson’s alleged interest in purchasing Epstein’s private jet while keeping negotiations under wraps during his contract talks with the Seahawks.
Visoski’s emails suggest Wilson was persistent in his inquiries about Epstein’s Gulfstream G-IV, raising concerns about the timing due to ongoing contract negotiations.
“Russell wants to sign his new contract with Seattle SeaHawks before letting the media and his team know that he is Purchasing a Plane, he is concerned it will effect his contract negotiations for some reason??” Visoski states in the email.
“Russell is asking for a way to lock up the plane until his deal is signed, could be 2 weeks, or 2 months or more. He took many photos and video during the flight, with his Wife or girlfriend Ciara, (she’s a fairly popular singer).”

Visoski continues, proposing a way to secure the plane for Wilson by making him put down non-refundable money and pay ongoing costs while deciding.
Epstein’s response outlines an alternative: “Easier is for him to purchase an option to buy the plane at 2.7 million, the option expires in 90 days. option cost 500k.”

Wilson addressed the situation on Twitter, stating: “NOPE!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT! Not TODAY satan!
“Some Random plane broker tried to sell me a plane. I had no idea whose plane and never bought the plane. Never talked nor Never met the man.
“Thank God!!!”

His publicist reaffirmed to The Seattle Times that Wilson “never purchased the aircraft, nor was he aware that any aircraft discussed by third parties had any connection to Epstein.”
Wilson’s tenure with the Seahawks spanned seven years, during which contract negotiations in 2019 gathered media attention as he sought an extension by April 15, as noted by The Ringer.
When the deadline passed without a resolution, speculation about a possible impasse emerged, though reports suggested differing views on contract terms.

Ultimately, Wilson secured a record-breaking four-year, $140 million contract extension by April 16, 2019, making him the highest-paid NFL player at the time, as the Seahawks announced.
Wilson played with Seattle until 2021, then joined the Denver Broncos, the team they beat in their 2014 Super Bowl win. He later played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024 and signed with the New York Giants last year.
