Nick Reiner’s lawyer provides update following arrest related to director Rob Reiner and wife’s murder

Nick Reiner’s lawyer has provided an update regarding his client after his recent arrest.

Nick was taken into custody on the evening of Sunday, December 14, and formally booked the following day. He is under suspicion of murder following the discovery of his parents, renowned Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner, deceased in their residence.

During a press briefing, LAPD Chief of Police Jim McDonnell stated: “December 14, at about 3:40 in the afternoon, LAPD responded to the residence of Rob and Michele Reiner located in West Los Angeles division.

“At that location, they found two deceased adults, a male and a female. Through the night, working with the coroner’s office, they were able to identify them definitively as Rob and Michele Reiner.”

Initially, Nick’s bail was set at $4,000,000. However, according to his jail records, this has been updated, and the 32-year-old is now being held without bail.

Nick has not yet been formally charged with any offenses and is expected to appear in court soon. Despite this, his lawyer, Alan Jackson, has indicated that Nick has not been medically cleared for transport to the courthouse, delaying his appearance.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) utilizes a County physician to conduct medical assessments on inmates to ensure they receive necessary care services.

Jackson described this as a ‘procedural issue,’ according to NBC Los Angeles, and expressed optimism that Nick will receive clearance for court appearances later this week.

Prosecutors in Los Angeles are believed to have prepared charging documents for Nick. However, as of Tuesday morning, December 16, no charges have been officially announced. It is anticipated that details will soon be released as the case transitions to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Further updates are expected.
