Nicole Kidman seems to be everywhere this year, and the actress has recently shared the reasons behind her frequent appearances on our screens.
Over the past year, Kidman has been a part of numerous projects such as A Family Affair, Babygirl, The Perfect Couple, Expats, and the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers.
Her latest film, Babygirl, has been catching attention, especially after Kidman revealed that there were moments during filming when she didn’t feel like she could ‘orgasm’ anymore in the new erotic drama.
At 57, Kidman is well accustomed to taking on bold film roles, but this latest endeavor might be one of her most daring yet.
Despite this, fans may have noticed how many projects Kidman continues to engage in.
While some prominent figures in Hollywood are choosing to step back, Kidman is embracing more work than ever.
In an interview with Variety, she discussed how she has thought about stepping away from the industry, revealing a surprising motivation for her eagerness to be involved in numerous projects.
She said: “There are so many opportunities in terms of being able to be of service to the people who are coming up, and using what I have and can do for people like [Babygirl writer and director] Helena [Reijn]. It’s very hard for me to go, ‘Okay, I’m just going to take care of myself,’ because I’m so much about taking care of other people.”
Kidman went on to say: “I’m thinking, ‘I can create more work for people. I can create jobs for people.’ And also, I love it. I have the passion. I’ve just got to take care of my body. I wish I had superpowers because I would love to be everywhere.
“This is what I dreamed of since I was a little girl. I love what I do so I’m going just give it my all, and then I don’t go out. I go home to be with my family. We do things together. I’m not going out to nightclubs.”
Kidman has described her role in Babygirl as a ‘liberating’ experience, particularly within the realm of the erotic thriller genre.
As reported by People, she stated: “I’ve always been on a quest as an actor, I’m always going, where have I not been? And what can I explore as a human being? And this was an area I’d never been.”
On the subject of the role, Kidman continued: “There’s a sort of a jump off the cliff thing where you go, okay, I’m just going to abandon everything and explore this with the people that I trust in a genre that is already set, but hopefully we can explore new territory and especially with the female at the helm.
“You have your director at the helm going, ‘I will protect you. Nothing that’s going to be in the film will be anything that you are not comfortable with. You are going to be okay.'”
