Nine from the same family perish in horrific crash during birthday weekend

A tragic car accident in Florida has claimed the lives of nine family members.

On Monday (August 5), a tragic incident occurred when an SUV carrying ten individuals veered off the road, collided with a guardrail, and ultimately landed upside down in a canal in Belle Glade.

Among the passengers, Jorden Hall, 26, is the only survivor. She is currently hospitalized in serious condition.

Sadly, the other nine passengers did not survive. Four were pronounced dead at the scene, and the remaining five were taken to the hospital but later succumbed to their injuries, as confirmed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

In a statement released on August 6, the police said: “Last night in Belle Glade, a tragic crash occurred at the 5800 Block of Hatton Highway, resulting in multiple fatalities. Tragically, Fire Rescue confirmed 4 victims were pronounced deceased on the scene, and 6 were transported to a local hospital where 5 additional victims passed away. We have one survivor for a total of 10 victims.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families during this heartbreaking incident.”

The victims have been identified as Pamela Wiggins, 56, Leiana Alyse Hall, 30, Anyia Monique Lee Tucker, 21, Imani Hall, eight, Kamdien Edwards, five, Yasire Smith, five, Zaire Mack, three, and Naleia Tucker, one.

Pamela was driving the vehicle, and according to a police report, none of the passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

All of the deceased were part of the same family and were on their way to a relative’s birthday party.

A GoFundMe page has been created by Pamela’s daughter to cover the funeral expenses. As of now, the fundraiser has amassed over $100,000 in donations.

While the exact cause of the crash remains unclear, Former District 6 Commissioner Melissa Mckinlay has expressed concerns over the poor condition of the road where the accident occurred.

“This road is absolutely horrible, I’ve been on a lot of roads in the area that are in poor condition this is top of the list,” McKinlay told CBS 12.

She added: “There’s no shoulder, the roadway markings are poor, the pavement condition is terrible, there are no lights, there are no guardrails on most of the road, only a little right up here on the turns. There are two very dangerous turns.”t.
