An infamous death row convict made headlines by mentioning Donald Trump in his last words and alluded to a sinister mystery.
Glen Rogers, who referred to himself as a ‘serial killer’, spent nearly 30 years on death row before his execution in Florida on Thursday, May 15.
At the age of 62, Rogers was executed by lethal injection at Florida State Prison near Starke, with authorities pronouncing his death at 6:16 pm.
In 1995, he was found guilty of murdering two mothers in separate incidents just weeks apart: Tina Marie Cribbs, 34, and Sandra Gallagher, 33.
However, it is claimed that he confessed to authorities about killing approximately 70 individuals in total.
Rogers became infamous not only for his brutal crimes but also for his unusual ‘Casanova’ nickname, suggesting a reputation for charming women and having numerous romantic liaisons.
His moniker was attributed to his attractive appearance, including long blonde hair, and his method of meeting women in bars before violently attacking them.
In 1997, a jury sentenced Rogers to death after he was convicted of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and grand theft auto in connection with Cribbs’ case.
He had encountered Cribbs in a Tampa bar, persuaded her to drive him home, and subsequently stabbed her to death.
Her body was discovered days later in the bathtub of a Tampa motel room.
Detectives noted her car was missing from the crime scene and apprehended Rogers following a pursuit on the highway in Kentucky, where he was driving the stolen vehicle.
Rogers was later given another death sentence in 1999 in California for the strangulation of Gallagher, another victim he encountered in a Van Nuys bar.
Her body was found horribly burned in close proximity to Rogers’ residence.
Authorities believe Rogers was involved in numerous other murders, with victims across California, Mississippi, Florida, Ohio, and Louisiana.
In the 2012 documentary “My Brother the Serial Killer,” his brother Clay alleged Rogers was also behind the 1994 killings of O.J. Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, although the Los Angeles Police Department dismissed this claim, as reported by Fox News.
For his final meal, Rogers requested pizza, chocolate cake, and a soda, according to the Daily Star. His last words left a chilling impression on witnesses at his execution.
Just before the lethal injection was administered, Rogers directed a peculiar shout-out to the President as his final words.
He said: “President Trump, keep making America great.”
He added, “I’m ready to go,” and expressed gratitude to his wife, who had visited him earlier that day.
He also hinted at a disturbing secret before acknowledging the President, stating: “In the near future, your questions will be answered.”
Reports indicate that Rogers is the 16th person executed in the United States this year, with Florida carrying out five of these executions.
Florida saw six executions in 2023, but only one in 2024.
The Associated Press notes that Florida is increasing its execution rate, with another death row inmate scheduled for execution on June 10.
Republican Governor Ron DeSantis recently approved a death warrant for Anthony Wainwright, 54, who was convicted of the 1994 kidnapping, rape, and murder of Carmen Gayheart.
According to the AP, Gayheart was abducted from a grocery store parking lot in Lake City, Florida, by Wainwright.
Before his execution, Rogers’ legal team filed multiple appeals in both state and federal courts, but all were unsuccessful.
They argued that, due to laws regarding the death penalty for trafficked young children, Rogers, as a victim of child abuse, should receive a life sentence instead.
However, these arguments were rejected.
