Notorious ‘Drake hex’ strikes as rapper loses $1 million on Super Bowl wager

Drake may excel in numerous areas, but gambling doesn’t appear to be one of them, as he recently lost $1 million on a single Super Bowl wager.

Widely recognized in pop culture and the music industry, Drake frequently releases hits and often brags about his influence and wealth through his music.

Nevertheless, gambling isn’t one of his strong suits.

The rapper’s gambling misfortunes have even led fans to dub it the ‘Drake curse.’

The pattern is straightforward: if Drake posts a screenshot of a bet or mentions supporting an athlete or team, they tend to lose.

This pattern repeated itself during this year’s Super Bowl.

Drake posted on Instagram announcing his $1 million bet on the New England Patriots to defeat the Seattle Seahawks.

However, when the Super Bowl concluded, the Seahawks emerged victorious, defeating the Patriots 29-13.

Following the Seahawks’ win, some individuals commented on Drake’s Instagram post, expressing relief that the ‘Drake curse’ had guaranteed a win if they bet against him.

One commenter said: “Glad I took the Seahawks, Drake you my guy but holy you’re cursed when it comes to betting sports. I know every single time to take the opposite of whoever you think is going to win, that’s how bad it is.”

Another added: “I literally pray for your success in all things except for this. Go Hawks.”

A third commenter noted: “You should bet against anything Drake supports. When will you realize he is cursed.”

And another simply stated: “Drake curse. Let’s go Seahawks.”

The Drake Curse extends beyond football. He also lost $200,000 after betting on Jake Paul to defeat Anthony Joshua in a boxing match. Unsurprisingly, the bout between the YouTuber and the former Heavyweight champion ended with Paul suffering a broken jaw in two places.

While many on social media jest about Drake’s consistent betting misadventures, he might actually have a net gain. According to TheDrakeCurse.com, a site focused on examining the Drake Curse, the 39-year-old has publicly disclosed 83 bets, wagering a total of $36.75 million and reclaiming $36.17 million.
