Olivia Rodrigo has opened up about one of the strangest things she’s encountered from concertgoers, revealing just how far some fans are willing to go to secure a spot at the front.
Rodrigo remains one of pop’s biggest young stars. At 23, she has already collected three Grammy Awards and built a catalogue of huge hits including driver’s license, good 4 u, vampire and her 2026 lead single Drop Dead.
Her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, arrived on June 12, 2026, and she has been promoting the project with a busy run of interviews and live appearances, including a chat with KISS FM UK about the record and her upcoming UK dates.
During the interview, the hosts brought up fan suggestions for a British artist Rodrigo should team up with, with Susan Boyle’s name being floated as a possible collaborator.

“Oh my god,” Rodrigo said. “Susan Boyle is having such a resurgence. Timothée Chalamet talked about her in that interview and I was like, ‘Yes, I forgot about Susan Boyle!'”
She also described the Britain’s Got Talent favourite as ‘epic’.
Elsewhere in the chat, Rodrigo revealed a bizarre reality she has witnessed from the stage, saying some audience members have gone to extreme lengths to avoid losing their place.
“I have been to certain concerts and certain festivals where people wear diapers so that they can be front row of the show,” she said. “That’s been an experience of a performer that I have smelled and experienced.”
“It’s also like with the ball drop in New York for New Year’s Eve, everyone is wearing diapers — they sit there all day. That’s a thing. I think about it kind of often. It’s a real thing.”
The subject has come up before. A clip circulated online last summer showing Rodrigo reacting to a sign held by a fan claiming they were “wearing diapers for front row”.
“Is that true? Did you guys wear diapers? You’re wearing a diaper right now to be front row? Wow, that’s actually amazing. I love you. Thank you for doing that.”

“That’s crazy,” Rodrigo added – and plenty of viewers seemed to feel the same way.
In response, one person wrote: “She was too nice about this,” while another added: “I’d hate to be next to them…”
A third joked: “Welcome to the UK love,”
