Olivia Rodrigo shares the ‘unusual’ question she poses on first dates to spot red flags

First dates can be a thrilling yet nerve-wracking experience, full of anticipation and anxiety. Personally, I struggled with them. I would avoid talking to my date before meeting them, fearing that I would run out of topics and fail to fill those inevitable awkward silences.

Ironically, my lack of dating finesse led me to date my best friend, and almost seven years later, we’re engaged and have a toddler. It turned out well in the end.

Recently, Olivia Rodrigo shared an ‘oddly specific’ question she asks on first dates, which can be a dealbreaker for her if the answer is ‘yes.’ As if dating a celebrity wasn’t already daunting enough!

The 21-year-old artist discussed her fashion choices with Netflix during her ‘GUTS World Tour,’ specifically one tank top emblazoned with ‘dump him’ as a nod to ‘Miss Britney Spears.’ During the conversation, she was asked about her biggest red flag in dating.

She revealed, “This is a very oddly specific question that I ask guys on first dates, I always ask them if they think that they would want to go to space.”

I don’t find it peculiar; it’s an intriguing question that can reveal a lot about a person on a first date.

Rodrigo further explained, “And if they say yes I don’t date them – I just think if you want to go to space you’re a little too full of yourself because I think it’s just weird.”

This stance might raise eyebrows, especially among astronauts and space enthusiasts like NASA or even Elon Musk with his SpaceX ambitions.

If given the chance to spend time on the International Space Station, I’d undoubtedly jump at the opportunity. Who wouldn’t want a once-in-a-lifetime view of Earth from space?

So, if you’re considering dating the talented songstress, perhaps steer clear of mentioning an interest in space travel or admiration for astronauts.

Rodrigo also shared a personal tidbit, revealing she’s working on her cooking skills, as one of her tank tops humorously states, ‘I kiss better than I cook.’ She admitted, “It’s true I am a good kisser, I’m working on being a better cook though – actively working on that one so I’ll let you know.”

Would you seize the opportunity to explore space if it presented itself?
