People have been left astonished by an Olympic marksman’s performance due to his unique approach.
Yusuf Dikec represented Turkey in the 10-meter air pistol event, and a particular photo has social media users all saying the same thing.
Shooting competitions have garnered significant attention from enthusiasts due to the sophisticated equipment and technology employed by many participants.
This includes specialized shooting glasses, such as those worn by South Korea’s Kim Yeji.
One side of her glasses obscured her left eye to eliminate double vision, while the other side featured a specialized lens to enhance her precision.
The look was reminiscent of a cyberpunk narrative, and Kim, who won the gold medal, added to the effect by donning a baseball cap and holding her daughter’s stuffed elephant in her non-shooting hand.
In contrast, Yusuf drew attention for entirely different reasons than Kim.
Yusuf appeared at the event without any specialized gear, wearing only a pair of regular glasses as he took aim.
Despite lacking advanced equipment, the 51-year-old shot with remarkable accuracy, earning the silver medal in the 10-meter air pistol event, alongside his teammate Sevval Ilayda Tarhan.
Observers were both impressed and somewhat intimidated by Yusuf’s performance.
One person humorously commented: “Did Turkey send a hitman to the Olympics?”
Another remarked: “I love how everyone uses specialized lenses for shooting to avoid blur and increase precision…
“But then Turkey sends out a guy who looks like he just picked up the gun for fun and wins silver.”
This year’s games marked Yusuf’s fifth time competing in the Olympics, and he and Sevval barely missed securing the gold.
While Yusuf’s decision to forgo specialized equipment impressed many, Kim’s appearance with her aiming glasses also captivated the audience.
A video from the shooting world cup in Baku in May showcased Kim winning the 25-meter pistol competition and breaking the world record.
Spectators were struck by how calm and almost indifferent she appeared during the event.
One person commented: “This is the coolest anyone has ever looked while breaking a world record,” while another added: “And she’s nonchalant about it, oh she’s the coldest main character out there.”
Another simply stated: “This is the coldest sh*t. I’m obsessed.”
