Pro surfer Bethany Hamilton lost her arm to a shark attack when she was 13.
But being attacked by a 14-foot tiger shark did not stop her from returning to the surf board and regaining her standing among the world’s top surfers.
Her inspiring story is documented in her autobiography, and also in the film ‘Soul Surfer’.
Now 25 and 6 months pregnant, Hamilton is still riding the waves — 5 hours a day.
The pro surfer says surfing helps her prepare for the most physical event a woman can go through: giving birth.
The soon-to-be mom says she’s doing it for the baby on board. She describes her routine as being all about “Preparing. Aligning. Loving.”
When she gets closer to the time of arrival, she plans to mellow down and just enjoy the ocean’s beauty.
“It’s crazy, but I feel like I’ve done some of my best surfing prego!”
The soul surfer says she wants to be an inspiration for upcoming mothers to keep moving and have a healthier pregnancy.
