OnlyFans creator pleads guilty following death of client during fatal ‘mummy’ fetish session

An OnlyFans creator has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter after a client of hers died during a fetish session – which she was reportedly paid $11,000 for.

In April 2023, Michael Dale reportedly reached out to Michaela Rylaarsdam to arrange the encounter.

According to text messages reviewed by Detective Chris Zack of the Escondido Police Department, Dale, 56, made a number of specific requests for Rylaarsdam, 32, to follow during the session.

Those requests allegedly included being wrapped in Saran Wrap “like a mummy,” having women’s boots glued to his feet, and having his eyes sealed shut using poured adhesive.

About two years after Dale died, Rylaarsdam — who performs under the name Asshley SinCal, according to E! News — was charged with murder.

Investigators said Dale was found with a plastic bag over his head, duct tape across his mouth, and plastic wrap covering his entire body.

Dale was taken to a local hospital, where he was declared brain dead. He was later removed from life support a few days afterward, PEOPLE reports.

A medical examiner determined the cause of death to be asphyxiation. Authorities have said the bag remained around his head for at least eight minutes.

Rylaarsdam, who is a mother of three, has now admitted guilt to a reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter, with a stipulated four-year custodial sentence, according to the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office. Sentencing is expected in early June.

During a preliminary hearing, the defense maintained that Rylaarsdam called 911 and attempted lifesaving measures on the day of the incident. They also emphasized that she remained at the location until police arrived.

However, Dale’s roommate — who, according to PEOPLE, had been living with him for five days — testified that he heard Dale ask for the activity to stop before he lost consciousness. The roommate also claimed Dale offered additional money for it to end.

As investigators worked the case, they reportedly found video from the encounter, which was intended to be posted to OnlyFans.

Complex also reports that photos were discovered showing Dale with a plastic bag over his head. Those images are described as graphic, and were allegedly sent to Rylaarsdam’s husband.

Although such incidents are rare, similar cases have been reported. Last month, it was announced that Dwain Hall’s trial is scheduled to begin on November 16, per CourtTV.

Hall is charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping in connection with the death of Sonia Exelby.

The two are said to have connected through a fetish website. In Hall’s arrest affidavit, Exelby — who was from the UK — was described as “suicidal and traveling to the United States to be sexually abused, tortured, and possibly murdered”, based on documents found on her computer.
