Owner of $2,000,000 Airbnb property who dismissed ‘sketchy’ app request gets unexpected call from police for unusual reason

A property owner who ignored an unusual request on Airbnb found herself receiving an unexpected call from the police.

There are numerous Airbnb horror stories, one of the most notable involving dentist Sascha Jovanovic. He had a woman squatting in his multimillion-dollar home starting in 2021, who overstayed her welcome significantly.

She was supposed to vacate the property by April 2022 but didn’t leave until November 2023, after staying there for nearly 600 days without paying rent. As a result, she reportedly owes Jovanovic over $60,000.

While Jovanovic’s ordeal was drawn-out, another woman’s experience was much shorter, although just as peculiar.

Recently, Airbnb host Edith Stone Lentini encountered what she described as a ‘sketchy’ request on the rental platform.

The request came from the mother of a high school student, who wanted to use Lentini’s Nantucket home as the venue for a Halloween party.

“My daughter wants to throw a little Halloween party for her and her friends and I was wondering if that’s possible,” read the message, according to Nantucket Current.

“It wouldn’t even really be a party. I will leave the house spotless and I’m sure nothing will be ruined,” the message continued.

While some might have been reassured by the mother’s promises, Lentini was not and decided to ignore the booking request.

However, the party went ahead without her consent. She only became aware of it when the Nantucket Police Department arrived on November 1, shortly after 10 p.m.

She was questioned about a party at her house, to which she responded with surprise.

“I said, ‘No, there should not be,'” Lentini recalled, as reported by the New York Post.

“They said, ‘Well, there’s a house party going on.’ And I said, ‘Oh my God!’ They said, ‘Let us call you back.'”

It transpired that the high school students had broken into her property through an unlocked window and held the party without her permission.

Moreover, the organizer arranged for guests to arrive in stages based on their school year.

“The audacity of it and the fact she staggered the grades!” Lentini stated.

Most high school parties end chaotically, but fortunately, Lentini’s home remained largely unharmed.

The students apparently took steps to ensure her belongings were not damaged.

Lentini explained: “They took all the pictures and mirrors off the walls. They took all the pillows off the sofa and put them in the basement.

“They moved all the furniture aside, rolled up my white carpet and moved it into the screened-in porch, and moved my TV.”

She continued: “As much as I’m upset about this, they did take care of the house. The most damage was just sticky floors. They even put ‘do not enter’ tape around the TV stand.”

Lentini humorously suggested that the girl who organized the party ‘should become a party planner’.
