Brandon, Pamela Anderson’s son, is eager for people to understand the true Pamela.
Pamela Anderson, known for her role in Baywatch, has two sons, Brandon and Dylan, with her former husband Tommy Lee.
The couple was married from 1995 to 1998, during which they had their two children.
During the year of their marriage, a private tape of the couple was infamously leaked, which became the basis for the Hulu series Pam & Tommy with Lily James and Sebastian Stan in the lead roles.
This event, along with her Baywatch fame, cast Anderson in the ‘blond bombshell’ stereotype, a label she has been working to redefine.
The Last Showgirl is assisting Anderson in this endeavor, with the 57-year-old recently earning her first Golden Globe nomination for her role as Shelly in the drama directed by Gia Coppola.
Brandon, her son, was the one who introduced this script to his mother.
At 28, Brandon not only produced this film but also the 2023 Netflix documentary Pamela, A Love Story, which delves into Anderson’s life and career.
Brandon explained that the documentary aimed to ‘help people understand and get to know Pamela, as there were many misconceptions about her identity’.
“It was really holding her back in terms of the opportunity she was being presented,” Brandon shared with Variety.
Brandon, who manages the Anderson family business matters, discussed his motivation for working with his mother: “The reason I got involved, beyond various business reasons, was to give my mom the opportunities she once gave me as a child.
“She was always there for me and was a wonderful mother. At some point in life, you become a protector.”
“I realized early on that I would be the one to lay down the foundations for my family and support them.”
He mentioned that it would have been ‘easy’ to profit from the public perception of his mother, but he knew Anderson wouldn’t have been content with that.
“I wanted her to feel she had the chance, whether successful or not, to thrive in the industry she was passionate about,” Brandon added.
After the release of Pamela, A Love Story, Brandon observed a positive shift in public perception towards his mother.
With the acclaim The Last Showgirl has received, he believes that ‘her future endeavors look promising’ and that Anderson’s presence on the big screen will continue.
