Patricia Routledge, Known for ‘Keeping Up Appearances,’ Dies at 96 as Statement Released

Patricia Routledge, renowned for her role in Keeping Up Appearances, has passed away at the age of 96, as confirmed by her agent.

Routledge is most famous for her portrayal of Hyacinth Bucket in the BBC sitcom, which aired from 1990 to 1995.

In addition to her television success, she was awarded a Tony for her performance in Broadway’s Darling of the Day in 1968.

Her agent released a statement to the PA Media news agency, saying: “We are deeply saddened to confirm the passing of Dame Patricia Routledge, who died peacefully in her sleep this morning surrounded by love.

“Even at 96-years old, Dame Patricia’s passion for her work and for connecting with live audiences never waned, just as new generations of audiences have continued to find her through her beloved television roles.”

The statement further added: “She will be dearly missed by those closest to her and by her devoted admirers around the world.”
