Patrick Clancy has spoken publicly for the first time since his ex-wife’s murder trial ended in a hung jury.
Clancy, whose three young children were killed in January 2023, sat down with his new wife Rachel Danis for a “60 Minutes” interview that aired after Lindsay Clancy’s case concluded without a verdict earlier this month. Danis, 37, is a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist at a New York City clinic.
“And you guys are starting a family,” journalist Ross Douthat asked the couple during the broadcast, and Danis confirmed.
“I think every parent can agree, you have different relationships with your kids, but they’re all your kids. And I can’t wait to tell them about their brothers and sister,” Clancy said during the interview.
Clancy expressed excitement about sharing memories of his first children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan — with any future kids he and Danis may have.
Danis revealed that she first met Clancy in January 2024 when both were members of a Manhattan run club. “I was just a girl that met a guy running in Central Park on a really cold Saturday,” she said, describing the ordinary circumstances of their connection.
The couple married in April at an intimate ceremony held at the Ladies Pavilion in Central Park, the same location where their paths first crossed.
Danis directly addressed the criticism the couple has faced online from trolls and influencers who have scrutinized their relationship and its timing. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that,” she added, dismissing the backlash.
Clancy relocated to Manhattan after the murders, finding life in Duxbury, Massachusetts unbearable. “Everything just came to a screeching halt [following their murders],” he said on “60 Minutes”. “And then there was a day where I– really without thinking, I drove by their school. And it was at the exact time that all of their friends were getting dropped off. And I was just– I couldn’t be there anymore.”
He sought anonymity in New York City, where he could grieve away from the reminders of his former life. Social media posts have since documented the couple’s relationship milestones, including attending Barry’s workout classes together and smiling broadly at the NYC Marathon in November 2025.
Clancy, who acknowledged experiencing suicidal thoughts after his children’s deaths, credited Danis with helping him process his grief. “My life has changed since I met Rachel in such a positive way,” he told Douthat.
Lindsay Clancy remains at Tewksbury State Hospital in Massachusetts. Her case ended in a mistrial when one juror refused to acquit her by reason of insanity despite evidence of crippling postpartum psychosis.
