People Are Convinced Donald Trump’s Hair Looks Very Different in His Latest Appearances

Donald Trump’s hairstyle has long been one of the most recognizable parts of his public image, but people watching his appearance at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa in Las Vegas on Wednesday (August 5) were focused on what seemed to be a noticeable change.

The 80-year-old president was in Nevada to give an extended address covering topics including tax policies, job creation, and his administration’s economic agenda. Trump promoted his Working Families Tax Cuts from the 2025 One Big Beautiful Bill Act, focusing on provisions including the “No Tax on Tips” policy that allows eligible service workers to deduct up to $25,000 in gratuities from their federal taxable income. He also highlighted his administration’s claims that Nevada has seen over 40,000 new jobs created and nearly 100,000 residents removed from food stamps.

Even so, much of the reaction online had little to do with the substance of his remarks. As videos from the event spread across social media, many viewers zeroed in on his appearance instead.

Photos and recent clips were soon being compared side by side, with users pointing to differences between how Trump looked in Las Vegas and how he had appeared at other events just days before.

That is when speculation really accelerated, with some observers saying his hair looked fuller than usual, carried more volume, and appeared to be a brighter blond shade than in recent appearances.

Among those commenting was journalist Aaron Rupar, who shared footage from the event on X and questioned what viewers were seeing.

“is Trump rocking a wig, or what the hell is going on here?”

He later followed that up with another remark about the president’s appearance.

“Trump’s hair, uh, has a lot more volume than normal.”

The posts quickly drew huge attention, gathering millions of views as other users began resurfacing older images for comparison.

The Democratic Party’s official X account posted a photo of Trump from under three months earlier and added:

“This was Trump’s hair less than 3 months ago”

A pro-Trump account also chimed in, taking the opposite view of the change.

“I do NOT care what anyone says. This is proof that President Trump is aging in reverse. His hair looks absolutely amazing today”

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a noted Trump critic who backed his impeachment, also joined the speculation on Thursday, tweeting “Trump has a weave!!” while reposting the Democratic Party’s comparison photo.

The contrast stood out even more because Trump’s hair had already been a talking point only a few days earlier.

On Sunday (August 2), he was filmed boarding Air Force One in New Jersey while strong wind moved his hair around, exposing more of his scalp than people typically see.

People also compared the Las Vegas footage with Trump’s appearance on Fox News at Night the night before, along with a Cabinet meeting from the previous week, where his hair seemed less thick.

Some observers speculated that Trump’s staff may have sourced a new hairpiece in response to the windswept incident, though this claim has not been confirmed by the White House or anyone in Trump’s team.

Despite the flood of online theories, there is no confirmed evidence that Trump was wearing a wig, using extensions, or had any particular cosmetic treatment.

Some experts have offered alternative explanations for the apparent changes in Trump’s hair. In January, hairstylist Gustav Fouche explained that Trump’s color-changing hair “could be related to toning.” He noted that “to achieve a silver or lighter blond look, violet tones are often added to neutralize yellow,” but if too much violet toning is used or left on too long, it can shift the color and make hair appear pinkish rather than cool or neutral.

Still, discussion of his grooming routine is nothing new. According to reporting referenced by The Daily Beast, New York Times journalists Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan wrote in Regime Change that longtime aide Walt Nauta kept hairspray and scissors on hand so Trump could trim the back of his hair when it got too long.

Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham has also previously alleged that Trump sometimes cut his own hair.

‘a huge pair of scissors that could probably cut a ribbon at an opening of one of his properties.’

Trump has long denied wearing a toupee. In 2005, he maintained in his memoir that his hair was entirely his own, and in 2015 he invited an audience member at a campaign rally to touch it as proof of its authenticity. He extended a similar invitation to a television host in 2016, who ran his fingers through Trump’s hair on-air.
