People Share ‘Must-Do Experiences’ Before You Die

When asked about the most essential thing to do before you die, people tend to give diverse answers. So why not try them all?

A Reddit discussion on this topic received significant attention, and the suggestions were truly fascinating.

User u/Leather_Crab8301 posed the intriguing question, prompting various individuals to share their opinions on what everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.

The question was: “What’s one thing you think everyone should experience at least once in their life?”

One Redditor quickly suggested that everyone should try living alone at some point.

They explained: “After a breakup, I began living alone for the first time in my life at 26. It’s been two years now, certainly the best thing about being an adult. Just being free in your own space.”

Another individual mentioned a similar idea, suggesting moving to a new city.

They shared: “This is one of my biggest fears. I am 35 and still live in the town I grew up in. Never lived more than 15 minutes away. Now my kids are going to go to the same school I went to. I really want to live somewhere else near the water or mountains — but I think I feel too guilty.

“My sister married a military guy at 18 and then traveled all the time. My brother moved out of state. I live on the same street as my parents. I’m the closest family they have. I want to live somewhere else, though.”

When someone suggested working in customer service, another respondent stated that ‘after working customer service jobs over the last few years, I’ve grown wary and distrustful and now approach everyone with the view that until proving me otherwise they’re bad.’

That perspective might seem grim, so perhaps working in customer service is more enjoyable with kind patrons.

Another person’s aspiration was to witness the northern lights, and a commenter described it as a ‘magical’ encounter.

While travel is a common theme, the responses went beyond that.

A Reddit user emphasized the importance of experiencing an orgasm at least once.

Someone concurred, saying: “I came here to say this. I’m a woman and didn’t experience one until my mid-30s. I thought I was ‘broken’ and would never have one.”

Another suggestion was to experience someone being proud of you for ‘whatever it may be,’ which is incredibly touching.

Similarly, knowing the love of a dog was highlighted as an essential experience, which is undeniably heartwarming.

Dogs truly are wonderful companions.

One commenter added: “And the ambiguous love of a cat. Knowing how different they are from each other is wild, but to be honest, it helped me to better understand boundaries and love language.”

Experiencing failure at least once was another suggestion, and someone else recommended witnessing a total solar eclipse, describing it as ‘worth going out of your way’ to see in person.

Getting stranded in the wilderness was mentioned as a unique experience, while another person noted that working in the service industry can lead to better treatment of employees.

Learning a new language was also suggested, as it can be a ‘profound’ experience.

If these ideas don’t spark your interest, consider trying something entirely outside your comfort zone, like skydiving or taking an improv class, or perhaps experiencing being in ‘love,’ as another person suggested.

Alternatively, you could try skinny dipping, as it’s described as ‘such a free feeling!’
