Pete Davidson opens up on why he believes people are interested in his dating life in poignant revelation

Pete Davidson has carved out a niche for himself in Hollywood as a comedian, yet his personal life often overshadows his professional achievements.

Davidson has expressed his displeasure with the spotlight on his romantic relationships by media outlets and social media users.

In a conversation with Page Six, Davidson discussed some of his past relationships and pondered why there’s such an intense focus on them.

For those who may not remember, here’s a rundown of the individuals publicly linked to Davidson.

• Carly Aquilino (2015)

• Cazzie David (2016–2018)

• Ariana Grande (2018)

• Kate Beckinsale (2019)

• Margaret Qualley (2019)

• Kaia Gerber (2019–2020)

• Phoebe Dynevor (2021)

• Kim Kardashian (2021–2022)

• Emily Ratajkowski (2022)

• Chase Sui Wonders (2022–2023)

• Madelyn Cline (2023-2024)

Davidson shared his thoughts on why there’s so much attention on his love life, attributing it partly to his appearance.

He said: “I’ve had some pretty adult relationships with some pretty amazing women and when it’s ended it’s been cool.

“Everyone is dating everyone and it’s Hollywood.

“Look at Paul Mescal, Timmy [Chalamet], Barry Keough. But because I’m ugly, they wrote about me. I was harassed for like five years and it made my life a living hell.”

Davidson emphasized a desire for his work in comedy to be his legacy rather than his relationships.

He remarked: “[It’s] embarrassing because you want people to write about your work. I was one of the youngest ever cast members on SNL and all that got pushed to the side because of who I was dating.”

It’s apparent these thoughts have weighed on Davidson, as he’s voiced similar sentiments before.

In December, during an interview with W magazine, he expressed a wish for recognition beyond his dating life.

He stated: “I just want to be known for doing good work. I want to be out there only when it’s [a] movie, stand-up, charity, or business ventures. That’s when I want to be seen. I don’t want to be this f****** loser who just dates people. That’s not who I am.”

Looking ahead, Davidson mentioned he plans to step back from dating and focus on removing certain elements, like drugs and social media, from his life.
