Pete Davidson has revealed a frequent backhanded compliment he receives from people after meeting them for the first time.
The comic is best known for starring in Saturday Night Live, as well as previously dating one of the most famous people in the world, Kim Kardashian.
He’s also good friends with a host of famous faces — Machine Gun Kelly being one of his closest confidants.
The two celebrities share many similarities, so much so that they both received this same brutal remark when meeting people.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Davidson shared: “The most common remark I get when people who don’t know me meet me is they’re like, ‘Oh, you’re actually pretty cool’. And I’m like, ‘What the f**k did you… What were you thinking?'”
Davidson continued to quip that the backhanded compliment is like someone saying “you’re actually not the worst.”
While people seemingly have preconceptions about Davidson, he’s trying not to let that bother him.
“At the end of the day, it’s like your family matters and your two or three friends that you have matter,” he said. “Everybody else can go f**k themselves.”
“This is sort of newer for me,” Davidson went on to share about his mindset.
“But I think it kind of shows if you see me now… it’s a little different because I went through something pretty tough. I just think who cares what people you don’t even know think?”
The King of Staten Island actor added: “Me and Colson, my best friend, Machine Gun Kelly, Colson, we get that same comment.”
Another new development in Davidson’s life is his refreshed look, with the actor and comic being in the process of having almost all of his tattoos removed.
He recently revealed that he’s so far spent an eye-watering $200,000 on the removal process.
The 31-year-old said that his inkings remind him of a sad time in his life, which is why he’s keen to get rid of them.
He elaborated: “When I look in the mirror, I don’t want the reminder of ‘Oh yeah, you were a f***ing drug addict. Like, that’s why you have SpongeBob smoking a joint on your back.'”
“I used to be a drug addict and I was a sad person, and I felt ugly and that I needed to be covered up,” Davidson explained to Variety. “So I’m just removing them and starting fresh, because that’s what I think works best for me and for my brain.”
Davidson began the removal process during the pandemic, and has since had tattoos removed from his arms, hands, and neck.
He predicted that it will take several years to successfully remove all of his body art.
