Phoebe Bridgers, 32, has fresh ink honoring her boyfriend Bo Burnham, 36.
Los Angeles tattoo artist Matt Vazquez posted the work: the word “Bobby” in script just below her collarbone, a nickname that doubles as the title of a track on her new album. The “Lost Weekend” singer’s fourth studio album dropped Aug. 14.
On “Bobby,” Bridgers sings directly about the comedian romance that Keith Urban accidentally hard-launched in an Eras Tour video back in May 2023. The couple had been linked since late 2022. Burnham co-wrote seven of the album’s 16 tracks and sings on “Bobby” itself.
“I gotta be honest, I think if you only have incredible tattoos, you’re a cop,” Bridgers opined on a 2021 episode of Kesha’s now-defunct podcast “Kesha and the Creepies.”
“Or you’re a serial killer!” Kesha replied.
“I think bad tattoos are a part of life… Who gives a s–t? It’s not going to keep you up at night,” Bridgers continued, adding that she’s “on the daily hunt” for the right lower back tattoo.
The new tattoo joins a growing collection. Vazquez also gave her a spiderweb on her left elbow, tucked under a heart bearing the name “Max” for her late dog. Her arm already held barbed wire around her bicep, a lit match on her forearm, and “drink water” on her left wrist.
A tooth on her wrist matches ones inked on Boygenius bandmates Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker. The trio also shares Three of Cups tarot card tattoos, symbolizing friendship’s joy.
“I’m going to have a toxic tattoo year, I can tell,” Bridgers said in a 2023 profile of the indie supergroup.
The tattoo reveal comes days before Bridgers launches The Lost Tour at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center this Thursday. The following day, her first feature film, A24’s “Primetime” co-starring Robert Pattinson, hits theaters.
Burnham’s seven co-writing credits on “Lost Weekend” mark his deepest creative collaboration with Bridgers yet. The comedian, known for his Netflix specials “Inside” and “Make Happy,” has largely stepped back from stand-up in recent years to focus on filmmaking and music.
The couple’s relationship became public knowledge through Urban’s viral concert moment, though they had kept things private for months prior. Since then, Bridgers has increasingly woven references to Burnham into her work.
The “Bobby” tattoo’s placement below the collarbone keeps it visible but not prominent, fitting Bridgers’ aesthetic of scattered, personal ink rather than cohesive sleeve work.
Her tour schedule runs through late fall across North America and Europe, with festival stops including All Things Go and Pitchfork Music Festival London.
