Ecuadorian airline pilot, Santiago Borja, captured this incredible photo of an awe-inspiring thunderstorm 37,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean.
While it would terrify most people, a super calm Borja says the photo perfectly captures his two greatest passions: flying and photography.
And he admits that while the photo seems perfect, it was extremely hard to take.
“Storms are tricky because the lightning is so fast, there is no tripod and there is a lot of reflection from inside lights,” the pilot said. Taken at the exact moment of a lightning flash, Borja was able to get the perfect shot.
He added, “I like this photo so much because you can feel the amazing size of the storm and its power, but at the same time it’s wonderful how peacefully you can fly around it in still air without touching it.”
This isn’t the first time Borja’s witnessed a thunderstorm from a great height. Here’s a photo from one he snapped last year, over Venezuela.
