The NYPD has released a photo of the masked gunman who allegedly shot and killed a 14-year-old boy in Queens.
Malaki Adams, 14, was gunned down around 3:40 p.m. Monday in Edgemere while riding his scooter, according to authorities. The teen was rushed to Long Island Jewish Hospital, where he later died.
Pictures released by police show the alleged killer wearing a black hoodie, checkered gray pants, and a face mask while riding a kick scooter. Sources told The Post the shooter stole Adams’ scooter after the attack and was last seen heading eastbound on Norton Avenue.
The gunman may have deliberately targeted Adams, who tried to flee before being blasted in the back, according to sources. The shooting is being probed as a targeted killing.
Friends and neighbors were torn by the teen’s tragic death, with many suggesting gang violence may have played a role. London, 16, who is friends with Adams’ sister, remembered the slain teen as “sweet and lovely.”
London also claimed Adams’ killing was “a gang shooting,” but couldn’t say for sure whether Adams himself was in a gang.
One local told The Post he had seen the alleged shooter around the neighborhood before the shooting and heard two shots when Adams was killed.
“You see the mask! He ain’t letting no one see his face,” the man said. “All these gangs here. You see him too if you sit here long enough.”
Adams’ mother, Alexis Credle, launched a fundraiser for her son’s burial expenses and remembered her “beautiful son.”
“My baby, you were taken from me far too soon,” she wrote.
“I will carry you in my heart every single day for the rest of my life. I love you more than words could ever say.”
The NYPD continues to investigate the shooting and hunt for the scooter-riding suspect.
