Authorities have provided a new update regarding the case of a man who was found decapitated.
Back in June, Tamika Sueann-Rose Chesser, a former participant on Beauty and the Geek, was arrested and accused of murdering her boyfriend, Julian Story.
Story’s dismembered body was discovered in the residence he shared with Chesser in Port Lincoln, Australia. Although most of his remains were found at the scene, his head was missing.
At the time, South Australia Police released a statement, as reported by NDTV: “It was a confronting scene for police and emergency services personnel as Julian’s body had been dismembered.”
“Julian’s head had been removed during the dismemberment and, despite extensive searches, has not yet been located.”
Chesser was taken into custody on June 19, and by June 27, the police issued a public appeal seeking assistance in finding Story’s missing head.
In a recent update, the police now believe they may have found Story’s head.
On July 31, a dog walker discovered a skull, believed to be Story’s, over a month after his passing.
Commenting on this finding, Det Supt Darren Fielke stated (via The Guardian): “Preliminary investigations and phone calls to the forensic science centre have provided information that the remains are most likely human and I believe they are the remains of Julian Story.”
“My understanding is that the person who contacted us today was walking their dog in that area,” Fielke added. “The dog ran off into the scrub. The dog didn’t come back when called. The person has gone in to see what’s going on and that’s how those remains were discovered.”
Fielke hopes this development will bring some solace to Story’s mourning family.
The skull is being transported to Adelaide for detailed forensic testing to confirm its identity, which Fielke is confident about.
“If it’s not Julian Story, then clearly we’ve got some other work to do, but I believe that it is,” he remarked.
Story’s family is planning to hold a funeral service for him in the coming week.
Meanwhile, Chesser remains at James Nash House, a psychiatric facility in Adelaide. Last month, it was reported that she is being held under a mental health detention order and has been denied bail.
She recently appeared in court via video link and is scheduled to reappear on December 18.
