Authorities have issued an update after Perez Hilton, 48, was taken to hospital following a troubling TikTok livestream on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
Officers from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the blogger’s Florida home after receiving multiple calls from concerned viewers reporting that he was allegedly ‘livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media.’
“In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritise de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication,” the Miami Dade Sheriff’s Office said.
“Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public.”
The sheriff’s office also said assistance was being given to Hilton’s family. Deputy officials confirmed that family members were at the scene and that Hilton was alone inside the residence at the time of the livestream. Crisis response officers and licensed mental health professionals provided support to his family.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed Hilton was the person involved and said he was ‘safely recovered’ before being transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a nearby hospital, where he is now receiving treatment. Deputies chose to ‘tactically disengage’ while continuing to monitor the situation as part of their de-escalation strategy.
His representatives at Golden Artists Entertainment, co-CEOs Dante Rusciolelli and Rebekah Kochan, shared a statement saying they were ‘aware of the concerning content circulating online regarding their client’.
They added that they had been unable to speak with Hilton, ‘despite ongoing efforts to reach him.’
The agency said its ‘primary concern is Perez’s health and well being, as well as the well being of his family’.
His TikTok account has been suspended. The livestream was removed from the platform and a graphic video from the broadcast showed Hilton appearing to cut his body while covered in blood.
Hilton first became widely known in the early 2000s through his celebrity gossip website, which was later rebranded as PerezHilton.com. His profile grew further through television appearances, including Celebrity Big Brother, and he also fronted Perez Hilton Superfan.
Outside of his career, the 48-year-old is a father to Mario, Mia Alma and Mayte Amor, who were born via surrogacy.
Earlier this year, Hilton spent three weeks in hospital after battling what he described as a ‘severe case of sepsis’. He was also hospitalized in April 2026 after experiencing a blood clot.
At the time of the sepsis hospitalization, he explained on social media that he had been prescribed medication following a bout of flu. He said he took the medication for a week without food, which he believed resulted in a stomach ulcer and severe stomach pain.
He later said the ulcer perforated, which allowed bacteria to enter his bloodstream.
“My stupidity landed me in the hospital for 21 days… It was the worst and best thing that’s ever happened to me,” he said.
“Because I have been taking all of this medication without food for a week, I developed an ulcer then a perforation and then sepsis. People die of sepsis.”
