Poll Uncovers True Sentiments of Americans Towards Melania Trump

Numerous surveys have gauged American opinions about Donald Trump, but what are the public’s views on First Lady Melania Trump?

Melania Trump is serving her second term as First Lady following Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential election, which brought them back to the White House in January 2025.

Although she often stays out of the limelight compared to her husband, the Amazon film Melania gives a glimpse into her life as the spouse of the president.

Recent polls haven’t been favorable to Trump, and a YouGov survey recently captured American perspectives on Melania in comparison to her predecessors.

The survey indicated that Melania has a -16 approval rating, which is lower than former First Lady Jill Biden (-9). Hilary Clinton, who ran for president in 2016, is polling at -17, slightly below Melania. None of these three former first ladies are viewed favorably by the public according to the survey.

In contrast, former first ladies like Nancy Reagan (+25), Rosalynn Carter (+32), Lady Bird Johnson (+23), Barbara Bush (+21), Michelle Obama (+21), and Laura Bush (+19) are generally more favored. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis holds the highest approval at +56, having served as First Lady from 1961 to 1963.

Melania tends to receive higher approval ratings from Republican voters compared to Democrats.

The survey included over 2,000 adults who were asked earlier this month about their opinions on the current and past First Ladies.

YouGov explained: “A random sample (stratified by gender, age, race, education, geographic region, and voter registration) was selected from the 2019 American Community Survey. The sample was weighted according to gender, age, race, education, 2024 presidential vote, 2020 election turnout and presidential vote, baseline party identification, and current voter registration status.”

Melania’s new documentary, secured by Amazon for $40 million in filming rights, was released last month.

She spoke with CNN ahead of its theatrical release, emphasizing that the project wasn’t driven by financial motives.

“I’m very proud of the film so people may like it, may don’t like it, and that’s their choice,” she told the outlet.,

“We achieved what we want to achieve. For myself, it’s already successful. I’m very proud of what we did.”
